He has toured and recorded with Jack DeJohnette, Tony Levin, Glen Velez, Simon Shaheen, Peter Kater, Alessandra Belloni, Layne Redmond, Badal Roy, and Nana Vasconcelos.

5.0 out of 5 stars For exploring inner space, September 24, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Colors Of The Mind (Audio CD)
Had a busy day? Feeling a bit frazzled? Try Colors of the Mind. In the space of an hour Steve Gorn's exquisitely sensuous playing transports you to the tranquil interior of your own mind. And best of all, that tranquil mood keeps resonating in your body long after you've finished listening. Life is sweet!

5.0 out of 5 stars explore the next level of your yoga practice, April 1, 2003

I am a yoga instructor/studio owner and play 'Colors of the Mind' frequently. Steve Gorn's flute creates a magical zone providing an energetic boost to the next level of hatha yoga practice. My students and I experience a quiet easeful opportunity to open our hearts and the heart of our practice. This is very different then an accompaniment that acts upon yoga flows. 'Colors of the Mind' creates a relationship - a light in tone but powerfully synergistic dialogue with our flows.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous!, January 28, 2009
By
This review is from: Colors Of The Mind (Audio CD)
There are no drums or tablas on this lovely recording -- Gorn is partnered by a variety of instruments from synthesizer to wordless vocal to slide guitar. It is all tasteful, nothing garish or overdone, but at the same time, certainly nothing boring. And Gorn's playing is utterly ravishing.

I don't know this album well enough yet, but after a few listens I can say the music-making is wonderfully spontaneous, yet deep. There is a great range of moods and ideas. The final track, Hummingbird, very simple in instrumentation, flashes through the mind like a beam of sunlight and retains its freshness through repeated listens.

Why live without such beauty? :) Recommended.
