4.0 out of 5 stars Great Game, September 5, 2006
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Colosseum Road to Freedom (Video Game)
I couldn't disagree more with the first two reviews. This is one of my favorite games. If you're looking for characters that look like they're on mega steroids and use superhuman weapons, this is not your game. If that's what you're looking for there are tons like that on the market. Aside from the censorship on extreme gore, the game has incredible depth and historical accuracy; especially the mock battles within the colosseum of rome. If you liked Gladitor, appreciate ancient history, and like a combo of hack and slash and strategy, this game is for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars one of my favorites, July 28, 2005
A Kid's Review
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Colosseum Road to Freedom (Video Game)
(just for the record I'm actually 14 years old and I am a member of amazon but my computer wouldn't log in) This game is one of the best I've played. It has a very fun and exciting story with twists and turns you would never expect. You are a slave and you are bought by a roman trader named magerius. You are taken to his training camp to elevate your skills. after a few days of training, you go to the arena to fight and earn money, although most of it goes straight into magerius's pocket (you have to repay the amount he spent on you to gain your freedom) before you get to spend it. I found it rather neat that you can attack each part of the body, feet, left arm, right arm, and the head. you can take and keep the stuff your fallen enemies drop and even sell it too. the gameplay can be kinda clunky at times but it doesn't take long to get used to it. overall, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this game to anyone who likes fighting and rpg games.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good but flawed, July 30, 2005
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Colosseum Road to Freedom (Video Game)
I have to agree with the previous review in that this is a badly censored game, although it's still highly playable. You can take a few paths in the games and fight literally hundreds of battles, there is alot of different weapons and armour to collect, although it is really cheap, you can get mostly any weapon/armour on your second day.

I've never played the Japanese version but I imagine it would be much more satifying without the changes. Still worth playing though, but it does feel as if things have been changed when they shoud't have. Just my opinion.
