5.0 out of 5 stars Retro Organization in Great Colors!, September 22, 2009
This review is from: Colour A Month Daily Planner Box Set (Moleskine Srl) (Calendar)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I love Moleskine. I discovered one sweet little black one on sale once at Barnes & Noble and bought it not knowing it would become so special to me.

I used a single Moleskine as my all purpose little notebook to jot absolutely everything and anything in it. If I got a phone call with an insurance quote I grab the book and write it down, If someone calls and tells me of their upcoming medical operation, I jot it down with date, details etc., car mechanic tells me what's wrong with the car, it goes in the Moleskin, an address for an upcoming appointment- bam! it's in there.

You get the picture. I can look back and see details of conversations, dates that need to be remembered, little jotted addresses with hand drawn maps...

One for each month makes it super easy to go back and refer to any and everything I have in there. I even use it for shopping lists especially for parties complete with guest lists which morph into seating arrangements.

I love the way I can use my Moleskines to think through my life and get it down quickly and all in one place; it's my stream of conscience all in one easy to reference set of books.

Each of the twelve books has a few pages covering all twelve months for planning ahead and then for each months booklet there is a page per day for more detailed planning for that particular month.

The books come with a number (1-12) on the front for each month of the year but also included are plastic stickers you can adhere to the front of each book with the actual month name: January, etc. if you prefer that.

And at the front of the folder that holds all twelve books is a tiny file folder for receipts or business cards or anything of that size.

Need I say more? If you love to be organized and need to refer back to details this is it- cute retro organization!

Also mildly inconvenient to have to fill out your personal info 12 times instead of just once for a regular yearly/monthly/weekly planner. I usually program events on my cel phone calendar but still like to write things on a regular calendar but these are inconvenient to reference compared to a regular wall calendar. there is also a lot of extraneous information (for me anyway, I am not a jet-setter), I don't have much use for the travels planning/memo areas, time zones map, distances chart, dialing codes, conversions or international sizing chart. also has international holidays, but doesn't say what they are, just what country and what date. A very nice looking set, just not practical to me.

3.0 out of 5 stars For Posterity, Not Future Planning, October 1, 2009

This review is from: Colour A Month Daily Planner Box Set (Moleskine Srl) (Calendar)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
These Moleskin planners are very pretty if light on the space to put your content. Each month is a different colored little book which is just slightly thicker than a nickle. The colors are burgundy, red, lilac, pink, green, a neon yellowy color ( technical term!), teal, light blue, navy, deep blue, black, and finally gray. Apparently as the weather gets worse the planner colors get more boring. They come in a tough black cardboard surround with an elastic that wraps around the lot.

I've seen other reviewers say that the set was pocket sized and easy to put in your purse, which I can agree with if you are separating just a planner or two from the rest. But if you are actually planning ahead you likely want to carry at least several months worth together. Now, I have a big purse but if I were to put this into it the set would immediately sink to the bottom, get battered around, and way me down. If you don't keep them in the case they are small enough that you risk permanently misplacing them.

I think the set is more geared toward recording the happenings of your, or your families life for posterity instead of whipping them out to keep track of soccer practices and hair appointments. They would probably be a nice keepsake and far more practical sitting on a desk.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Set of Note Books, September 24, 2009
This review is from: Colour A Month Daily Planner Box Set (Moleskine Srl) (Calendar)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
This is like a set of little note books inside a hardcover binder. It's thread bound. Each of the books is numbered 1 through 12 and color indicated.
There is an elastic cord holding the booklets inside of the binder.
If one of the booklets is removed, the cord becomes loose and the booklets may slide or fall out.
The booklets are thin and small. Too small for sketching or writing a personal journal but good for grocery and other lists and reminders.
There are decals for adding the names of the months to the covers of each booklet.
Each booklet begins with a miniature calender year for 2010, then six pages for monthly appointments, international holidays, then the calender year for 2011.
Perfect for everyday needs, recording important events, sketches, lists and important reminders.
The colors of the book covers are nice and varied.
I think it's a little expensive for what it is, but nice overall.

4.0 out of 5 stars A cute ensemble. Fascinating for kids. Retro for adults., January 21, 2010
By
This review is from: Colour A Month Daily Planner Box Set (Moleskine Srl) (Calendar)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
MOLESKINE COLOUR A MONTH DAILY PLANNER in 12 notebooks, No. 2010.
This ensemble contains a hard-cover binder with a nifty black elastic. The black elastic is like a garter belt that keeps the binder closed. The binder also has a cute pull-out pocket. Inside the binder are 12 booklets, each 9 centimeters by 14 centimeters. Each booklet has a flexible vinyl cover, where each booklet has a BIG NUMBER in front (one for each month) and a different color, that is, purple, violet, blue, navy blue, gray, turquoise, red, maroon, black, olive green, indigo, and chartreuse. The ensemble also provides a sheet of decals or stickers, each with the name of a month, and also stickers with the numbers one to twelve. This is all very nifty and cute.

Inside the front cover is the writing, "In case of loss, please return to: _____________ As a reward: $ ____________. Further inside the book, there is a 2-page calendar for the entire year, a 6-page calendar with a space for each day (a space for jotting notes), a two page spread showing holidays for most of the countries in the world, a two page map of the world. This is followed by about 30 pages, where one page is devoted to each day of the month, with plenty of room for jotting down notes.

On the good side, the ensemble is very cute. It is a perfect gift for a child between the ages of 8 to 16. They will adore the colors, and the "official" look of the ensemble, with the elastic garter and the sturdy vinyl covers, will make the child feel important and like a grown-up. For an adult who has a real need to jot down things on a paper calendar, where the paper calendar takes the format of a booklet (suitable for slipping into a shirt pocket), then this will make a fine gift. On the critical side, I am not sure how many adults would have need for this ensemble. Most adults have software tools for keeping them aligned with the calendar, for example, MICROSOFT OUTLOOK. As such, this ensemble might reasonably be characterized as "retro."

5.0 out of 5 stars finally, something that works for the organizationally-challenged like me!, January 1, 2010

This review is from: Colour A Month Daily Planner Box Set (Moleskine Srl) (Calendar)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I am a super-unorganized person, with ADHD. I have struggled my entire life to find a way to keep myself and my schedule organized. Nothing has worked, and I end up with post-its, scraps of paper, notes in my computer, notes in my car, a BIG MESS that only makes my life more confusing and difficult.

My latest attempt at organizing my life was to use the "Calendar" feature on my smartphone, and I put about 90% of my schedule in it. Well, that helped quite a bit, but when my phone died and had to have a "hard re-set," my calendar and everything in it was gone forever. It had contained doctor's appointments, school activities, church activities, volunteer time, birthdays, and medication reminders.

Then I remembered that I'd ordered this Planner set months ago as a gift for someone else, and then changed my mind. I held onto the Planner Set, and I am so glad that I did! I sat down last week (the last week in December, perfect timing to do this!), surrounded by schedules, appointment cards, etc., and started putting my planner together. I can't believe how much more comfortable I am with a paper and pen planner than I was with the more high-tech version.

I highly recommend this set, especially if you are organizationally-challenged like I am. It will give you a comfort level with what's coming up that really takes the work out of staying on schedule, and let's you concentrate on the more important and rewarding things in life. Happy New Year!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Rare Combination of Practicality and Elegance, October 22, 2009
This review is from: Colour A Month Daily Planner Box Set (Moleskine Srl) (Calendar)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)

I love this cute little daily planner. It has a large price, but considering its history and what a classic it is, the legendary notebook is plausibly worth the price. It was orginally made by Parisian stationery shops for the avant garde from all over the world. In 1986 a family in Tours, the last manfacturer of Moleskine, closed its doors. From that time there were no more true moleskines until 1998, when a little publishing firm in Milan reintroduced the product. Again the stylish individual daily planners returned to the hands of discriminating lovers of elegant and practical products.

Great thinkers and artists have written their ideas, story outlines, sketches, journal entries, and appointments in Moleskine for more than two centuries. I look forward to January 1, 2010, when I can start using my beautiful little black box of notebooks with an individual book for each month.

I'll store the set on my desk shelf and place the current one in my purse. Lately I have been trying with diligence to organize my life. What a beautiful way to make and keep records and thoughts!

This little box of books should be an excellent Christmas present .

5.0 out of 5 stars Elegant Simplicity for Professionals, October 15, 2009

Let's face it. Even with all the latest technology, sometimes a pen and paper is still the best tool for recording thoughts. It's portable, permanent and doesn't need any batteries.

These little monthly planners are perfect for on the go planning and note keeping. You won't worry about synchronizing data, a hard drive crash or losing an expense piece of technology.

The wheel is simple too, yet look how useful it is. This is a wise investment.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice Small Books, October 13, 2009
This review is from: Colour A Month Daily Planner Box Set (Moleskine Srl) (Calendar)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
A little smaller than i thought i read them to be.
Very nice paper and perfect size to carry with daily for jotting things down
only thing i do wish did not have numbers on them and not sure every single one needs all the xtra pages
with information that i do not need. Would have been nice if they would have taken those pages and made them blank or give more for the date pages to write on.

Love that I can keep them all together once they are done and be handy to look back over the year on.
They fit perfect in my small book i carry with me and can even fit it into my wallet that is bigger than a checkbook size.

To be clear this is not for someone who is used to a high tech way to keep track of your schedule or even for someone who has a very hectic schedule and you need to check very far into your year as you would have to carry around several of them to keep tabs on months ahead.

For myself i did not get these so much to use as a planner but more as a way to always have something with me for jotting down all those things my kids do and say that i wish i had record of as they are growing up far too fast and so many times i wish i could go back and remember something that was said. This way too i can look back at an entire year and see all the things we did together. So yes for my needs i guess will serve more as a daily journal than a planner.

Price I do not think that the retail listed is worth it but maybe if you have someone who is a writer or more on the artsy side or someone who still loves to take pen and paper in hand for their thoughts then when the price is under $20 might make a nice gift for them.

I also have to say if you are someone who is used to keeping track of your busy schedule on a tech device this is no way going to replace that in fact not even going to replace most designs of yearly planners but if you are someone who like myself is looking for a way to maybe jot down a thought or moment as you go through your busy life and want to one day look back at things that happened to your over the year then this is something you could use.

One seldom finds as handsome of an otherwise mundane item as the Moloeskine day planner. Compartmentalized into twelve individually bound, various colored, pocket-sized monthly planners, this Moleskine product truly pays homage to the classical French and European notebooks of days long behind us.

Convenience is fundamental with the Moleskine month-to-month day planner. Sporting a solid, black, hardbound cover that neatly seats all 12 colorful month's of the year booklets, it's as much of tool as it is an emblem of organization.

While one might need an entire year to determine the viability, practicality and convenience of using a given brand's day planner, the Moleskine was immediately put to use and shall continue to carry out its duties faithfully for the months to come as a research record.

The Moleskine Month-to-Month day planner represents fine quality, superb styling and is a pleasure to both own and use.
