CAROLE KING ... NOW AND FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!, September 3, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Colour of Your Dreams (Audio CD)
I'm a major fan of Carole King, and I bought this album in conjunction with TAPESTRY in 1995. By then, at age 14 I had definitely heard of her and knew she was an accomplished songwriter and singer but wanted to discover that for myself. Basically, my comments on TAPESTRY would simply be the same as everyone else's (revering it as a masterpiece of course!), so I'll instead comment on COLOUR OF YOUR DREAMS: this is a great Carole King album! I worship "Now And Forever." It was a perfect opener to A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN, and I am still hearing it on the radio to this day. The album also contains many other great songs, including "Lay Down My Life," "Standing In The Rain," "Wishful Thinking," "Tears Falling Down On Me," (a wonderful song whose subject matter refers to rape and racism), and "Friday's Tie-Dye Nightmare." Even by 1993 when this album came out, Carole had ventured into other fields (conservation, politics, and acting) and was not as involved in music as she was during her 60's-70's prime! However, this album is a strong reminder of the fact that if you have talent, it's never really going to fade or weaken ... in Carole's case, it only gets better!

Hooked on King..., January 20, 2006
This review is from: Colour of Your Dreams (Audio CD)
I first heard Carol King while I was in the Army in '75, feeling totally oppressed, depressed and wanting out. I bought a cassette player and two tapes, Carol King's Wrap Around Joy and an Elton John. "Jazzman" said it all, it was like she was right there expressing everything I was feeling in that song, well almost. Been to Canaan on Rhymes and Reasons was another song that really cracked an opening in my psyche. I haven't stopped listening to her since, although I have taken a break from music. I was hesitant in purchasing Colour of Your Dreams as I thought it might be more for the younger generation but I was wrong. Friday's Tie Dye Nightmare became my favorite right away, revealing the dog eat dog world and our part in being devoured. Its Never Too Late, was just the inspiration I needed. Her Fantasy cd is also one of my favorites in that it also reveals the beauty and harsh realities of life. Some of King's music started a kind of healing in my life. No song writer has ever moved me more with her music than Carol King.
