Deep repetetive house at it's best!,
By Grado (Stockholm Sweden) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Colours of Circulation (Audio CD)
In my search for deep repetetive house/trance this is absolutely one of the best pieces I've come over. I've not heard anything like it in this genre. This style is between House Techno and Trance and the tone is all through atmospheric. Hypnotic beats and bass with long deep strings in the background makes you melt. This CD makes it both on the dancefloor and at after or before parties. If you are a fan of Deep Dish, Terry Lee Brown, Pete Moss Sasha/Digweed or Timewriter you have to check this out.

excellent tracks for the perfect background groove,
This review is from: Colours of Circulation (Audio CD)
This certainly slipped out into the release stream with little fanfare, a bit surprising when you think of the range of DJ's, house and trance, playing their tunes. The duo of Paul Davis and Matt Jackson certainly pack enough rhythm and intricate drum programming to keep the spinners interested, and here their progressive-leaning, vocal-free tunes are collected into a two-disc album that explores every nook and cranny within the limited musical boundaries they've set. Mostly served at mid-tempo, the tracks may sway a bit ambient ("Cerise") mellow ("Turquoise") beautiful ("Green") or sultry ("Scarlet") but stick to the prescribed plan. That's certainly not a criticism; the stores are lined with records of lofty goals and failed achievements, and if this were a bedroom-produced IDM album their proficiency would get raves- but this is house music, which seems so easy to make. Track by track this is excellent, but over the course of one CD (or two) it inevitable blurs into a comfortable background groove. Which is fine, some days the music doesn't have to be the star.

Truly Gorgeous...,
By johnbundy (Seattle, WA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Colours of Circulation (Audio CD)
This is one of the best CDs I've picked up all year... one of those CDs perfect for afterhours listening and grooving... one of those few CDs where people keep asking "who is this and where do I find it?"Circulation manage to marry trance, progrssive, deep house, Eighties electro and tech house into a seamless album of beats and beauty. Some listeners might find that the album's lack of vocals cause some of the tracks to feel a bit repetitive, but overall this is a very mature album which will be in active rotation in my collection for many months to come. Enjoy.

It truly is a marvel! The best collection that I have ever heard, with it's noninvasive beat that keeps you going at the same time - you can listen to this album in any mood. A must have for anyone who loves deep house and trance. ALL of my friends who have heard it - bought a copy for themselves - it's that good, no joke!

Circulation - Colours,
This review is from: Colours of Circulation (Audio CD)
Circulation releases their first album, Colours -- a compilation of several of their early 12"s. But what we really have is 11 tracks of squeaky-clean tech-house, probably some of the best in the business. Circulation's work is aimed at the dancefloor, no doubt, but their quality and melodic sense make it fine for home listening. Within individual songs there's not much development (which is too bad), but from song to song, they display versatility. "Burgandy," for example, sparkles from its first chords and keeps things moving gracefully; "Cyan" is bright and uplifting, like a musical hug. "Turquoise," however, goes icy darkness, and "Scarlet" and "Mauve" share in a moody funk. Disc 2 is mixed, but I personally prefer the unmixed versions.

How Did I Miss This?,
By JBizzle "Da Fizzle Shizzle, Dizzle" (Under A Rock) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Colours of Circulation (Audio CD)
This is one of the truely great albums out there. There aren't many albums that can be great all the way through, but this is one of them. I'd only ever really heard "Turquoise" back on an old "Hooj Choons" release, I loved that track but never realised they'd released an album. Well, not only have they released an album, 2 albums actually. "Colours Two" is actually Circulation's second album, and what an album it is. Quality house music from beginning to end. A litle bit of everything to satisfy almost anyones taste can be found here. Sounds range from Proggy, Techy, Funky, & Deep, pure quality through out. Though this one is pretty pricey, it's well worth every penny spent. What's even more expensive is their first album "Colours Of Circulation", rare & ranging from between $30 - $50 "Colours Of Circulation" is even better(+ you get 2 discs & both are phenomenal). Check these guys out while you can, hopefully we'll be hearing more from them in the near future.

Trance with a touch of the surreal!,
By "bombzombie" (Houston, TX United States) - See all my reviews

I have both Colours and Abstract Funk Theory. And the Circulation is never lost. All of the rhythms and beats seem to start where they end. As you listen to varying shades of the spectrum, it seems that you haven't come far. But after listening to the complete series, it is apparent that you transcended from the red region to the violet portion of the colour band, and this all happens without thought. It is a charismatic journey of sorts, and it will leave you wondering...did I ever leave where I was at and how did I get here all at the same time?!?! In fact, this is as close to the theory of relativity as man has come. Enthusiastically, I recommend this track for those both new and old to house, techno, and trance.

Low calorie Trance.,
By Peter Bonnar (Dublin, Ireland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Colours of Circulation (Audio CD)
2 CDs packed with a highly addictive synthetic Trance/House vibe. CD1 has some very melodic and catchy tunes that will rattle around your head for weeks, 'White' track 2 for example, a summery house anthem that could grace any dancefloor, anywhere. CD2 is a continuous mix based on the same ingredients as CD1 : A constant 4/4 beat cut up with the incisive hi-hat, a trademark throughout, and the duo never stray from this blueprint. Circulation seem to be at home creating upbeat synthetic house moments, low calorie trance music that doesn't challenge the head too much. So don't look to this release for deep twisted house a la Northern Exposure. Think of it more as functional trance. It does its job well even if it becomes predictable over time. Colours is quite an addictive release that will get lazered non-stop for some time, but after many listens the music becomes somewhat forgettable... Good party music that doesn't take itself too seriously. |
