The quality was just as wonderful as the other Cast CDs
It is refreshing to hear such lovely traditional Scottish music.

I've had this CD for almost a year and regard it very highly among my Scottish music collection. Several songs were written by The Cast and are among the best on the CD, such as "The Piper and the Maker", an a capella song featuring Mairi Campbell's beautiful voice. Her fiddle-playing is equally good and is heard in the tune sets.
Overall I prefer this album to The Winnowing, which I just got recently. Somewhat in the same vein, there they especially excel in traditional ballads like "The Scots Callan O' Bonnie Dundee".
I am very pleased with the artistry of The Cast and wonder why there hasn't been another album in 10 years. I will certainly keep my eyes and ears out!

This CD will transport you. I was lucky enough to see The Cast live in Edinburgh, Scotland as part of the Hogmany celebrations. When I heard "The Piper and the Maker" I knew I had to own a copy. The song still sends shivers up my spine. The album as a whole leaves me longing for another trip to Scotland.
