This review is from: Colt .45 government models: Commercial series : 1912 through 1970, including super .38 and .22 models, plus Norwegian and Argentine copies
If you are a Colt pistol collector this book is a must have. It describes the evolution of the Government Model by listing design changes that were made from it's invention until 1970. The information in this book is a combination of history and technical data that would be useful to a collector in pistol evaluation. There are plenty of photos and diagrams that illustrate proper parts, markings, finishes and magazines. Different variations such as National Match, Ace.22s, .38 super and foreign copies are included. The serial number reference at the rear of the text is very helpful. I guess I have been spoiled by Mr.Clawson's other book on the military models(the big one). I wish this book had more photos and had included the series 70 models. If you are considering becoming a Colt pistol collector, this book could be very helpful in the education that could prevent you from making an expensive mistake.
