Poor effort rehash of past books, skipped many boring pages going over and over the same thing.

Where the book fell short was in the overall plot - there really isn't one.

I am a huge fan of this series, I have read all the books more than once. I couldn't wait to read the final book. I have to admit was I disappointed. I agree with the other reviewers who said it was boring.

Yes it did catch you up with all the Colter family, Lily and her 3 husbands, Callie & Max, Holly & the Dads, and we even meet Max's sister Lauren. But the story line that followed each family was boring. There was no big drama, everytime drama came up the next page it was all over with, so no excitement and everything was extremely predictable.

I never thought I would say this about a romance book but it was too muchy! Every other line was some sort of 'how much I love you', 'I can't live without you', what would my life be if you never saved me', 'I can't believe I am so lucky'. These are all great things to hear & read but it was over & over & over again until I found myself skipping these lines.

This book read as a novella. Not worth $7.99 (I am mad at myself for paying that much), should be $3.99-$4.99. I would not read if you have not read the previous Colter books (which are great, if you haven't read them yet I recommend reading). I was very disappointed when I finished this book last night, which is a first for a Maya Banks book.

While I am a huge fan of the author and have purchased both print and digital copies in the past, there really is no excuse for minor novellas to be packaged as a full length book and given the full price of $7.99. Yes, it was nice to have a brief visit to some old friends, but the book did not continue a family saga with a complete tale. Chopped up story lines did not help the story flow.

I waited for months anticipating and felt abused after paying full price for a minor update.

This feels very much like a closure story for the author to enjoy her characters a bit and to introduce us to Max's sister and set us up for her story. There's nothing wrong with that, but we shouldn't have to pay full price for it either. Save your money and wait for the next book.

I wish I could demand a refund for the missing half of this book. I can't believe the publisher charged us $7.99 for what felt like a very rough draft of the first few chapters of a book. If this had been my first Maya Banks book, it'd definitely be my last.

I was looking forward to reading this book. I had loved the Colter series so far. This book bored me to death, it seemed like a rushed project with lots of unfinished business, poor character and situation development, slow and needlessly complicated. It did not add anything significant to the Colter series; in fact, when I was still thinking the book had a loooong and slow start, it suddenly ended. Seems like the author tried to capitalize on the success of the series with another book but did not have an intelligent plot planned out. Will not be pre-ordering more books in this series as I wish I had read the reviews before buying this one. Very disappointing, I feel cheated by Ms. Banks, I thought I was buying another good story involving the Colters but was delivered a dud.

Fan of the Colter series, but disappointed in this book. I was disappointed I spent 7.99 on the book. The overall book was a filler, not focusing on anyone new just updating where everyone is at and adding in stuff about Max's sister, who is going to be the next to get a book. I don't mind filler type books, but honestly they should be free like Lorelei James 'Slow Ride' for the fans or at least cheaper. I personally think that the story wasn't bad just not worth the price it's at, which made me upset at my purchase, which made me rate lower stars.

..gypped, swindled and led to believe that this was written by Maya Banks! If you did, in fact, write this drivel, Ms. Banks...whudda dirty rotten trick to play to your fans' excitement and emotion and take advantage of good people who anxiously await your next Colter release, and pander it for this price! This was nothing more than a brief synopsis (or replay) of the previous books with a few twists...ie; Lily's preggers, Max's sister [Lauren's] abusive relationship, and Holly's hospitalization...all of which could've been told in the previous stories. Gimme a'frikkin break! We're your fans Ms. Banks...not a bunch of idiots.

This novella was so weak, and full of holes it was embarrassing, hence my questioning who this Author really is!! I mean, here we have Lily secretly teaching Holly how to cook a Christmas meal...noooobody is supposed to know... So my question is, WHERE ARE THEY HIDING ALL THE FRIKKIN' FOOD THEY PREPARE (as the book says they prepare enough food to feed a batallion... TWICE)...they practice this menu repeatedly..where does this enormous feast disappear to? And after cooking in the kitchen all day..tell me.. how do they camoflauge all the aroma from Lily's husbands when they walk in??!? I mean, it's all done in secret right? Are Lilys' husbands THAT DENSE?? gawd, gimme a frikkin' break!!!

Basically this story is all about family, coping together through trials - - sticking together and supporting one another, regardless of that family members' decision...and what happens when the family unit is threatened with possible loss. This story reiterates what we've already known from the previous Colter stories. Nothing more.

Because Laurens' dilemma is never addressed, we know there will be another book about HER abusive relationship. Will I purchase it?? NOT BLUIDY LIKELY!!

This story was a disappointment of such magnitude, that I'm wondering if I'll ever pick up another Maya Banks book again.
