(Updated review below original)

I was initially looking for a lightweight jacket that would be warmer than the Mountain Hardwear jacket I've been using for the past few years. Living in Seattle, I wanted something waterproof but also something that would keep me warmer when the weather dipped into the 30's. I was initially looking at the Rain Tech III jacket by Columbia, which has Omni Heat as well, but opted for something a little warmer given that most users said that they were only comfortable in the 40's and up. I wanted a jacket that featured both Columbia's Omni Heat and Omni Tech (waterproof) options, and after doing some looking, I decided to go with this jacket.

First impressions: it was a chilly 27 degrees this morning waiting for the bus. My face and hands were cold, but my body was comfortable. Not hot, not chilled, but completely comfortable. I stuck my hands in the fleece-lined jacket pockets, and after a couple minutes, they were warmed up nicely. With my lighter-weight Mountain Hardwear jacket, I'd be standing there trying not to noticeably shiver. The best part is that due to the Omni Heat lining, there doesn't need to be heavy amounts of insulation, so the jacket doesn't feel that bulky. There is a small amount of bulk, but that's going to happen with any jacket once you start adding insulation. This has the performance of a much heavier jacket, but at only a fraction of the bulk.

This jacket also boasts a powder skirt for skiing, which you can conveniently unsnap and leave off for day to day use. There's also a large open inside pocket for storing one's ski goggles. The outside pockets are very roomy, and as I mentioned before, fleece-lined, which will keep your hands nice and warm.

I live where we get 30 to 40 below zero temps, this jacket is warm! I do have very large shoulders and long arms, the fit was very good.

I absolutely love this jacket! I had been wearing a jacket that, in order stay warm, required me to wear an absurd number of layers. On the day I purchased this coat, I walked outside, on a night when a cold wind was cutting down everything in its path, with nothing underneath but a thin long-sleeved t-shirt and I was perfectly and snugly warm as toast. It looks great, has a number of useful pockets to stow important items, all the pockets zip closed. It seems like they thought of everything when they designed this jacket; I could not be more pleased!!!

Fits true to size. Nice and warm. Keeps the wind out and doesn't make you sweat. Purchased with gloves and beanie!

I bought this jacket for x-country skiing and for downhill skiing. I live in Minnesota and this jacket is perfect and is a great value. I looked at quite a few jackets but was not willing to spend $250+ on a jacket so the value was awesome for what you are getting.

It's been freezing in Minnesota this winter and have had zero issues with coat not being warm enough. It's really lightweight too.

Best coat I have ever owned. I wear a synthetic base layer top under this coat and can get too hot waking my dog even in the sub-zero temperatures and extreme windy conditions we have been experiencing in Minnesota much of this winter. Add a knit hat under the shell-type hood to keep your head warm. I am tall/thin, 6'1"/160#, and the medium size is a great fit!

The omni-heat interior liner really keeps you warm especially during light physical activity. My only complaint is that the large runs a little bit larger (I am 6'1", 210) than other Columbia products I have purchased. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing because you can wear a fleece or hooded sweatshirt as a base layer with room to spare.

Similar to my Columbia Men's Ridge 2 Run II Pants. The jacket keeps me warm and I can move freely wearing it. I wear a sweatshirt and a longsleeve underneath and sometime get too hot. This jacket was worth the purchase.
