Jacket looks great. I needed something that is versatile that I could wear to work or casually. It's not too plain looking, and it's not overly sporty looking like most 3-way jackets. I've long been in need of a rain coat, but I did not want to spend money on a single-purpose item. Lots of storage. Interchange system works very well. We don't get much snow where I live, but the snow skirt is great for keeping out wind and provided added protection in heavy rain. The hood is very easy to take off and put on while wearing the jacket, and it's packable enough to stick in a pocket. The Interchange liner is a bit thin, so this definitely is not an insulated winter coat, but here's the great thing about the Interchange system: I already have a warmer liner, so I just zip that in on colder days. The liner it comes with looks great and is light enough to wear indoors. The jacket is breathable and will work well even on warmer days and especially in the rain. I recently got caught in a winter rain storm. The lightweight fabric repelled the water and stayed dry all the way through. Great product.

I gave this jacket only a 3-star from a usability standpoint. As some other reviewers pointed out this is NOT a warm winter jacket. Don't get me wrong - the quality and construction are superb. However, the soft-shell liner is too thin (much thinner than a stand-alone soft-shell you can purchase from any brand) and it is not insulated. Add to that is the fact that neither the outer shell nor the liner is wind-proof. I'm a warm-blooded animal. In the area where I live the summer heat is more unbearable than the winter cold to me. When I zipped the 2 jackets together and worn it on a single-digit windy day my chest area and upper arms felt too cold. Granted, I only wore a regular long-sleeve cotton shirt underneath. But my current single layer and fleece-lined jacket does a better job than the Erudite to keep me warm. Those reviewers who commented that the Erudite is toasty warm must be wearing those high-tech undies underneath. Fact is, I don't wear the jacket for any outdoor vigorous activity, but only for daily use. The sleeves in the liner are tighter than normal. That makes even wearing a sweat-shirt together with the jacket difficult. I wear a 15.5 x 33 dress shirt. This jacket fits me very well, except the waist area is just a little too tight (I wear size 32 pants). I like the jacket but have to return it because it is not warm enough to me.

Warm, well designed, and versatile. My only complaint is that the front pockets are a little too high. Get it.

Always loved Columbia jackets and this one does not disappoint. Gortex and pocket organization is nice and conformable. Stays really warm and just one of the best jackets you can buy.
