I purchased two of these on sale. When I first got the shirt and put it on, man it felt great. Great fit too. Lightweight, cool and dries quickly. However, I found out on my first backpacking trip that the material can hang on things and get ruined easily. I must have brushed up against a tree branch or something and the material (threads) pulled out. I thought that I could be more careful, but it happened again and again. I was running in it one day and my velcro ipod strap caught it and completely ruined the sleeve. I've only had it two months.I won't buy another one.

I bought this with a series of day hikes in mind, based on the experience I have had with Columbia quality. It turned out the shirt was, according to my standards, too fragile for day hikes. For instance, occasional contact with the carabiner of my GPS would cause threads to ravel out their weave. As a result, 1 in 2 of these in the set I bought now have been marked by unraveling. In my opinion, unraveling is to be expected, but not so easily. To summarize, I do not intend to buy any more of these.

The Meeker Peak shirt is very thin, very light, very comfortable, and not at all durable.

Impressed with the durability of my Columbia All Trail shirts, I bought the Meeker Peak thinking it would be similar. It is not. The Meeker Peak is much lighter, arrived with a snag, and came off the line after the first wash with several more.

I came back to edit this review because, though I am HIGHLY ANNOYED at how easily the shirt snags, it is so comfortable that I keep wearing it.

Columbia's brand is still going strong. Hi quality specification with Vietnames production is an unbeatable mix. Yes, we fought a war w/them, but that was a long time ago. When it comes to textiles they are king.
Like all Columbia product the feel is such that it is almost not there. I am somewhere between a medium and large, took a chance and chose medium and the fit is perfect.
    I don't hand out 5* often.

I got this t-shirt as I have had good experience with a previous range of columbia t-shirts.

This one unfortunately is not up to scratch - lots of pinched/pilled fabric immediately after the first wash and every one thereafter.

In the meanwhile, my now 3-4 year old columbia titanium t-shirts are still going strong in the same load and look as-new.

    Not recommended.

Nice quality and weight - wore it to do some serious day hikes. Stood up to all day hard work without any problems. Fit is true to size.

I am a self employed landscaper in the southeastern US. Summers are brutally humid here. These shirts were only $20 so I purchased two of them. When I first put it on was concerned the embroidered Columbia logo would itch or scratch my chest when working, but I never noticed it at all. These shirts wick moisture as well as anything I've ever tried (coolmax, capilene, goretex, etc). I sweat constantly and the shirt dries continuously. From the moment you put it on it feels silky and cool against the skin. I'm 6ft tall and 200 lbs with broad shoulders and an athletic build and the XXL works great for me, leaving enough tail to tuck in if I like. Feels awesome while backpacking since my back stays cool and there is almost no friction between the straps and shirt, thus eliminating shoulder hotspots.

Other reviewers have expressed concerns and displeasure over the durability of these shirts, such as their Ipod strap or some tree picked up their polyester shirt a little bit so they feel it is ruined. They can feel that way, but these are tough shirts and I'll tell you why. I use chainsaws to cut trees down on a weekly basis, I'm constantly being slapped, smacked, swatted, grabbed and flat knocked down sometimes branches. Sure the polyester sometimes gets caught, thus it "pulls" or "picks", but that's what polyester does. I have $65-$70 golf shirts that picked up worse than these... and that was golfing. I consider those to be "dress" shirts so some might say they are ruined.

Just the other day I cleared 140' of fence of briars and other scrub bushes. All day with a chainsaw and brush ax. Sure I got hung up and the shirt picked up a bit, but they still don't have any holes after a couple months of almost daily wear.
