I own a number of Columbia's clothing items and generally like them a lot but these and other rain pants from Columbia that use the elastic drawcord just don't work well. It's OK if you walk on flat ground and don't bend or crouch much, but when you bend your knees often, like when snowshoeing or hiking uphill, and crouching, kneeling, squatting, etc., they creep down and you have to keep pulling them back up. No amount of tightening the drawcord will stop it because the pants are a slippery fabric that slide right over the belt of your regular pants underneath. They need to be designed just like their snow pants with belt loops so you can put on a nylon belt and they'll stay put, no problemo... now how much would it cost Columbia to add a few of those and lose the cheap shock cord? The waterproofyness is fine and they breath OK, but after a couple hours it gets really annoying to keep pulling them back up. I suppose if you added some suspenders that would solve the issue. I'd like to add this issue isn't just with Columbia... it is very hard to find rain pants from any brand that don't rely on just a drawcord. I would recommend Columbia's Diamond Back II Pant which is a non-insulated snow pant. They are currently listed on Amazon but not on Columbia's web site, so may be discontinued(?).

I'm more than satisfied with these rain paints, as they kept my lower half completely dry during my little brother's very wet soccer game which was part of hurricane Sandy. Just slip them on over your jeans/khakis/sweatpants or whatever to stay warm and dry. You won't go wrong buying these.

Bought these for Search & Rescue. They're waterproof, to be sure. You don't want to find yourself wearing them when it's sunny, though-they get a little 'swampy' from not breathing. Nice pants, they do what they're advertised, and the price is right.

This is a very basic waterproof pant. I wear it over my jeans when it's raining and, so far, I haven't had any problems with it and it seems to actually be waterproof! There are no pockets so don't expect to be able to easily get to things that you have in your jeans. A little bit of prep work when you use them will remedy that weakness. The only thing that might be nice would be having a built in gator on the leg bottoms. I wore these on a ride to work in the rain and a little bit of water was able to get in up on the bottom of my jeans. Not a huge problem but it did happen. As for sizing, they easily fit over my jeans but I'm smaller than a 32 (and I don't wear baggy pants) and I have not tried wearing them without pants underneath. I think the sizing is pretty accurate.

Conclusion: I would recommend these to a friend for basic needs.

These were purchased for a trip to Alaska, as a repellent rain pant. These pants are a thin shell with an elastic/drawstring waist. My husband wears a 36/34 and these XL fit fine over his jeans. They did what they were supposed to do. They did not receive 5 stars because they do not have a pocket.

I'm a tall man (6'4") and I thought they may be too short, but they run a little long, so they fit perfectly.aLSO GREAT IN THE SNOW.With thermal base layer you can kneel lay on ground, whatever you have to do and not worry about getting wet.Generally awesome...Light and packable in my haversack.

This pants worked well during my bicycle commute to work and fit well over the dress pants. I stayed completely dry under them.
I have no problem taking them off with my bike shoes still on.
A pocket could be better a nice plus, but I can live without it.

When this was delivered, apparently it was too big, but after a while it doesn't matter that much anymore, coz it's a cool pair of pants. It's better than all my other ones.
NOTICE that it doesn't have pockets

My waist is a 35 and ordered a bit small as suggested (32). They are a little snug getting on, but otherwise fit great with enough room to slide on over my boots. I have no backside, so the inseam is a tad long for me, but that's true of all my pants. They are light enough and thin enough to be rolled into my messenger bag for quick access on my work commute on the bus. They are an excellent layer that fights off wind, rain, and even snow.

I wore these to a couple rainy football games. Put them over regular jeans along with a Omni-Tech rain jacket and Goretex treated boots and gloves. I came home dry each time.
