CRK's Big Eddy, a mediocre blade,

I like the feel of CRK's Big Eddy in hand. It accomplished the intended purpose
of filleting fish. The handle and scabbard are quite good, ( 4 stars). However, CRK's Big Eddy is manufactured with relatively soft steel, (i.e. 420J2 is a low carbon stainless steel). Therefore it looses edge easily. I rate the corrosion endurance of the stainless as unsatisfactory for salt water use, (i.e 2 stars). After re-sharpening, I needed to coat the blade with auto polymer polish to reduce rusting and spotting. |
