Product Description

Product Description

The simple CRKT® Hitchcock Hole in One golf tool is a small folding knife that's tailored for use on the links. To open the blade, simply press down on the lock release lever and rotate it to either side. Continue rotating until the lock snaps firmly into place in the open position. Because there is no conventional clip, it is a completely ambidextrous knife.

From the Manufacturer

Columbia River Knife and Tool's 5150 has a high flat grind with a gently curved Razor-Sharp edge. The model 5160 single-hole blade is plain for easy cleaning, while the fancy model 5150 receives five lightening holes in the blade spine. The Hole In One's locking mechanism locks both open and closed. Most important, when the knife is gripped tightly during use, the lock also grips tighter for increased safety.

The style of this knife is one of a kind and i had very high hopes for it. Using the clip i hung it on my belt loop and used it for several days. Then something bad happened
While sitting on a couch the knife opened on its own and the blade was sticking out at a 90 angle from the handle. Someone pointed it out, and when i reached for it it sliced open my hand. Clearly this is a design flaw and because of it i cant recommend this knife.

I've only had this a few days so these are initial impressions. The blade is decent for this price range and it does feel good in the hand. I was a little worried with the "open" handle that it wouldn't be secure for cutting but its perfectly functional.

There's not pocket clip or any easy way to attach one. That's not a flaw, its just the design of the knife and its clearly stated in the product description, so I wouldn't knock any stars off for that. But carrying it in your pocket with the "open" or "minimalist" handle is funny; the blade edge is certainly more exposed than with a traditional folder. I'm afraid that something (like a fold of cloth) could get wedged in between the handle and blade. I also worry about carrying it in a pocket along with change or keys; I think a dime or penny could easily slip into that little space. Please note that this has NOT occurred but I can't help wondering about it.

It was not clear to me that the circle in the middle also acts as a carabiner, that is an alternative to a pocket clip if you don't mind the knife showing when you carry it.

The only real problem is that the cutting edge is quite small for a knife of this size. I guess a folder usually has an edge that's just under half of its length. This knife has an edge that's only about 2.25 inches, compared to an overall length of about 8 inches. It seems like a big knife to have such a small blade.

If you like this design you should also consider the CRKT Van Hoy Snap Lock. I have that one too and while I like them both, I prefer the Snap Lock and think its more functional.

Yes as the name implies. The hole in one [5106] is a fantastic piece of form follows function. The engineering that went into the Hitchcock designed knife blows my mind. A knife that feels so natural in my hand, and to function the piece is habit forming. Sharp, sturdy, and one of the only knives that is impossible to drop when really needed.
Thanks Mr. Hitchcock and CRKT.

This is a great little knife to use on a backpack for hiking, on belt loop for work, or just to tinker around with! Opening/closing mechanism is very unique and takes a little practice to become familiar with, but very quickly becomes natural to use. Blade holds an edge even after daily use. Over all, it's a great knife for many different occasions, but there is no conventional clip, so clipping it to a belt loop is one of the only carry options aside from in pocket, but I personally do not suggest that.
