4.0 out of 5 stars Go Go Gadget Pocket knife
The mini fulcrum is first and foremost a nice looking little pocket knife. I had my doubts about the CPL scales but the effect is very much like mother of pearl and doesn't look cheap or cheesy. As for the knife's performance, it is up to the standards for CRKT but, and this should be obvious, I would only trust it for light duties. The fulcrum opening gadget uses a cam...

3.0 out of 5 stars Well, it cuts things...
I really don't know how to review this knife... It works as a knife but it is kind of small and puny. The opening system is cool but not all that practical to me. I'm sure some people will like it but I guess I just like a bigger knife. Nothing against this knife, for it's purpose, it works.

4.0 out of 5 stars Go Go Gadget Pocket knife, March 25, 2010
This review is from: Columbia River Knife and Tool 7408 Mini Fulcrum Knife with Razor-Sharp Edge (Tools & Home Improvement)
The fulcrum opening gadget uses a cam to rotate the knife outward and then a liner lock snaps into place, creating a solid lock-up. The fulcrum function takes some practice, I had to show the guys at the knife counter how to use it, and the mini-fulcrum is so small that you feel like you don't have a solid grip on it. I've had numerous people ask how I do it without cutting myself and honestly I'm surprised I haven't yet. In the end, it's a clever little gadget and I give it a thumbs up for a gentlemen's or lady's folder.

4.0 out of 5 stars interesting knife, January 1, 2011

I have been carrying this knife for a couple months now and I am relatively happy with it for the price. I find the steel to not hold an edge quite as well as benchmade knives I have had with the same or similar steel, but it is acceptable. Make sure you pick up the correct torx bit so you can adjust the tension in the screws, most on mine were a tad loose.

elegant looking, small enough to fit in a pocket, opens easily with one hand, holds an edge well after several months

4.0 out of 5 stars Cool concept... awkward to open, July 4, 2011

Cool concept and handsome looking knife. As an Engineer and I enjoy inovations like this. That being said and the fact that I can cut a deck of cards in just my right hand, I thought I had the dexterity to open this knife with blinding speed, but I can't and I doubt anyone can. The movement required is a bit awkward. 1) Hold the knife in the right hand with fingers holding the clip and the thumb pressing on the top frame half (scale). 2) Press the top moveable frame half downward and the blade will come out of the handle out to a 90º position with a click. 3) Pull back up on the movable frame half, and the blade will continue to rotate upwards. Keep fingers away from the blade edge. That's it - the actual instructions. It is quick but not as fast as a spring assist.

2.0 out of 5 stars Interesting opening mechanism, poor liner lock, January 12, 2011

I'm not crazy about this knife for a number of reasons, first, is I tend to like knives that have larger handles. I've got large hands and these "gentlemen" pocket knives feel too small to grip. Second, while the opening mechanism is cool and interesting, it feels fragile, as in I'm not so sure it's going to function well after it collects the usual amount of pocket lint. Thirdly even though the knife is new, it often doesn't open fully enough for the liner lock to engage. Lastly the liner lock material is thin, it does "lock" the blade in place but it doesn't look like any amount of force would be necessary to disengage it.

On the positive side, kids will have a hard time opening this knife unless you show them how. It does open quickly. It is plenty sharp and as a letter opener it's a fine tool.
