Product Description

The new CRKT Foresight folding knife designed by Ken Onion draws on the tried and true formula of "form follows function". Its formidable profile looks like a chiseled physique just waiting to pounce on your next cutting task with all of the control and efficiencies you would expect in a high-quality folding knife. The cold-forged aluminum handle of the Foresight is purposefully styled and shaped with swept finger grooves and proper palm swell to provide a confident, comfortable grip no matter the use at hand. Ken designed the 3.5-inch modified drop-point blade with a generous belly and re-curve cutting edge to maximize tool utility. And, the IKBS ball bearing pivot system coupled with Inter frame style mechanism, make opening and closing the blade as smooth as silk. Precision ground of AUS 8 stainless steel and coated with Black Ti Nitride finish. this Ken Onion knife looks cool and is plenty sharp. Available in both Plain Edge and Combined Razor-Sharp and Triple-Point Serrated Edge models. Bottom line, some say hindsight is 20/20, but perhaps a smarter way to think is that having the Foresight shows you plan ahead when it comes to having the right tools.

CRKT Foresight K220KKP

In Depth Look

You Won’t Know Where the Blade Ends and Your Hand Begins.

This folding urban tactical knife proves that form follows function with swept finger grooves, a formidable AUS 8 blade, and the smooth and fast IKBS opening system. Whatever the need, you’re good to go through anything with this bad boy of a blade.

Ken Onion of Kaneohe, HI designed the CRKT Foresight. As a veteran, an experienced custom knifemaker, and the youngest member to ever be inducted into the Blade Magazine Hall of Fame in 2008; he’s the real deal when it comes to knives. This one is just another example of Ken’s tight mechanics and comfortable form in a blade that’s ready for your urban law enforcement and professional tactical needs.

The 3.5-inch modified drop-point blade has a generous belly and re-curve cutting edge. Precision ground AUS 8 stainless steel and coated with a Black Titanium Nitride finish, it absolutely rips through anything that comes its way. Yet it opens like a well-oiled cutting machine.

The IKBS ball bearing pivot system coupled with an InterFrame build style provides fast opening action for the blade with great rigidity. Just push down on the opening flipper with your finger and the blade is called to attention. Then a locking liner engages the blade tang for a solid lock-up. You’ll be safe. If only the same could be said for anything standing in this high-quality folding knife’s way.

What truly sets this blade apart though is how it feels when you hold it. The cold-forged aluminum handle of the Foresight is purposefully styled and shaped with swept finger grooves and proper palm swell to provide a confident, comfortable grip no matter what the use. You’d swear the designer made a mold out of your own bare hand.

Even the way the knife gets transported was well thought out. A blackened, stainless steel carry-clip is designed and mounted to provide a “low-profile” carry that is deeper in the pocket.

Hindsight may be 20/20, but with the Foresight you’ll show you can plan ahead when it comes to the right tools.

So far, I'm really happy with this knife. I needed something unobtrusive for EDC and use at work. The low profile clip and matte theme really make it not stand out. When I used the knife today to open a package, the audible shock from the co-worker was hilarious. ("where did THAT come from"). Replacing a long use Cold Steel Gunsite Folder (sadly broken). This blade is listed at 3.5", but practically, it seems more like 4.
A beefy, useful size blade, with a nice curve and great shape. Not too aggressive looking, but super capable. The bearing system is incredibly smooth, both opening and closing. Everything just FITS. Updates to come on durability, but I have high hopes (ti-ni, CRKT build quality). :)

So yeah, it's a very nice knife. You get what you pay for. It's bigger than I thought. I have it as a pocket knife. It has a lo-profile while in the pocket, but when you take it out, it freaks people out. Just make sure that when you DO take it out, it's not in a conference, or a bank :) The knife is beautifully done and the action of the blade is quite smooth. It's a piece of art that few possess.

Pro:
Beautifully done
Action is very smooth
Full feel in the hand
Lo-Profile in the pocket.

Con:
Sometimes I wish it was a bit smaller.
Expensive for a pocket knife ( my opinion )
Attracts attention when out and in use.

I bought this knife to replace my everyday carry SOG Flash II when I lost it. Turns out, I'm probably going to buy another Flash II.
It's not that I don't like this knife. It opens like a dream, feels great in your hand, is very attractive, and is obviously made very well. Problem is the weight/bulk, tip down carry and the awkward all around clip style. Also, the black coating is already coming off of the handle from rubbing up against my keys, and I've only had this knife about a month.
I'm almost tempted to classify this beaut as a collector's knife. Just doesn't suit me for the purpose I hoped to use it for.

Absolutely love the look and feel. I carry an AUS-8 blade for work EDC and really like the steel even though many knife elitist seem to hate on it. It is a big and heavy folder. If that is a negative for you, don't buy it. The edge is amazingly sharp from the factory. The IKBS bearing system seemed to need a little break in. It was a bit tight at first, but it really smoothed out after an hour or so of fondling. The jimping on the flipper is a bit sharp, but it will only bother you if you sit around and constantly flip and close the knife repeatedly which you will until your finger hurts. Then you will do it again.

Very well built and with the pivot bearings it SNAPS open with use of the flipper. Ergonomics are without reproach. Fits my hand perfectly. Like this knife so much I bought two. Blade steel is excellent and holds it's edge for a long time. Also easy to sharpen. Outstanding knife you have to experience it for words can't fully describe it.

Not a big fan of the pocket clip. It sits so deep in your pocket you can't grab the knife and the clip is so small and short you have a hard time grabbing the clip. And the clip is only tip-down carry, considering the size of the knife, this makes it cumbersome to turn around in your hand to deploy it.

Sweet knife! If you know anything about the knife designer Ken Onion then you know his knifes are sweet! I love how big and how hefty this knife is. At first the flipper needed a lot of strength to get knife to open but after a few weeks it was fine. Stop reading and buy the knife already

I've had this knife for a couple months now, and i have to say that it really is a wonderfully crafted blade. The IKBS ball bearing system really is a treat. The knife is not an assisted open, so it does not open as fast as one, but it does open incredibly smooth. Press down on the flipper and give a quick flick of the wrist and the knifes open. I haven't had to oil this knife since I've had it and it still opens as smoothly as day 1. Now this knife is not to be mistaken as a small knife. This is a very large knife yet very slim and concealable at the same time. The knife fits easily in your pocket and the low profile pocket clip helps to make the knife pretty much unnoticeable. When open the knife feels like a fixed blade and is definitely up to the task it was meant for. The blade has a very durable edge due to the Aus 8 stainless steel. On top of being stainless it has a coating to protect it even more. At first i was worried that this coating was unnecessary and would wear off easily but it has yet to. Beware that this knife has a recurve blade and will be difficult to sharpen with a conventional sharpening stone. A pull through sharpener will work best. I have EDC'd this knife since i have had it and put its durability to the test. The lockup is very solid and the knife is very sturdy. The handle is all aluminum and very strong. The only thing i haven't done with this knife is batoning, but i have no doubt that it would do it. All in all i am very happy with the purchase!

Pros:
Large Recurve blade
Keeps an edge
Stainless
IKBS Ball Bearings
Very Comfortable in the hand

Cons:
On the expensive side
May be too big for some people
Not ambidextrous

If you are right handed, and your looking for a durable, nice looking, large EDC pocket knife, and you don't mind the price, this is a great knife for you!
