4.0 out of 5 stars Despite flaws, still a nice product
Firstly the design is pretty bad. Not only aesthetically. You need a huge key ring to put your keys on your belt, to clear the bulky rear. And the locking carbiner, doesn't really lock; If you tap it a couple times while locked it will open. Also, the knife is difficult to open with one hand, and sometimes opens on it's own (Would to see a similar product using the Van...

1.0 out of 5 stars Piece of JUNK!
Man, what a disappointment this thing was. I'd expected quality from CRKT but that was certianly not the case. The blade was very challenging to open. NOT what you would want in an emergency, and frustrating even for normal use. The carabiner function was not well assembled and didn't stay firmly shut. To top it off, the LED light didn't even work! If I knew that it was...

Firstly the design is pretty bad. Not only aesthetically. You need a huge key ring to put your keys on your belt, to clear the bulky rear. And the locking carbiner, doesn't really lock; If you tap it a couple times while locked it will open. Also, the knife is difficult to open with one hand, and sometimes opens on it's own (Would to see a similar product using the Van Hoy locking system).

That said, this combines the most important features for me in a utility knife: knife, LED light, carbiner to attach keys to belt. I like to have a small knife on my keychain, and this circumvents the extra bulk it would add by taking place of the lumbiner I have.

I first bought it in silver, thinking the paint would just come off anyway, and I wanted to draw as little attention to the badly design object. Once I got it though, I realized I should get it darker, silver just looked wrong. So I got grey, and the paint is coming off, but, serendipitously, that actually seems to improve the looks, as it detracts from the (failed) attempt at looking futuristic.

All in all, pleased.

NOT what you would want in an emergency, and frustrating even for normal use. The carabiner function was not well assembled and didn't stay firmly shut. To top it off, the LED light didn't even work! If I knew that it was made in China I never would have bought it. It's not even like it was inexpensive either. Save your money and don't buy this junk.

1.0 out of 5 stars Columbia Knife, October 1, 2010
Let me say one thing about this item... JUNK... Although the concept is cool & it could work but it is just not a good product. It came with a product catalog to sell you more kinves but NO directions. There is a light on this knife that didn't work so there is a small plastic 'thing' that you can put your finger nail under it & lift it & hope it doesn't break & there are 2 small hearing aid type batteries in there & one of them is rusted not to mention that you can't open the knife itself. What's up with this thing... Nice concept but wow, not that good... Great looking knife if it worked...

4.0 out of 5 stars Cool little gadget..., June 16, 2010
I collect knives, so I have a lot of other little knives/multi-tools like this. CRKT is a great manufacturer and I am always impressed with their products. This little knife is really cool looking and does what it's supposed to. I deleted 1 star because the blade is a little bit harder to deploy than it should be, but all-in-all I am very impressed with this little guy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Handy keychain knife/LED light, March 23, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I think this is a great product. I was looking for a small knife and LED light for my keychain and this Lumabiner does the trick. The knife is very sharp and locks securely into place. This knife is pretty difficult to open with one hand; you need to grip the body and pull the knife out with your thumb and forefinger. The LED is very bright and easy to engage. The paint has started to chip off after a couple of months of use, but this is to be expected. I love the looks of this tool, it has a really unique design. All in all, I'm very satisfied with this purchase.

***This knife will never open on its own, it takes a strong grip to open it up. Don't worry about keeping it in you pocket!***
