5.0 out of 5 stars Ichi a great buy., July 4, 2011
This review is from: Columbia River, CRKT Koji Hara Ichi, Assisted Opening 1070KS (Misc.)
I purchased 2, one all black the other std silver blade, quality is great, operates well and it is a very handy little blade, great for inexpensive gifts for those who appreciate high quality low cost edge tools. I saw this retailing in NYC for $59.95, of course at that time which was 2 years ago I paid about $25.00 each.

Cannot beat CRKT for bang for the buck and cost / quality.

4.0 out of 5 stars inexpensive quality, April 7, 2010
This review is from: Columbia River, CRKT Koji Hara Ichi, Assisted Opening 1070KS (Misc.)
Although many gripe about the 420J2 steel used on this knife, it seems ideal for the size and shape of the blade, and it's very sharp out of the box. At first, I thought that the assisted opening feature didn't work, but after a dozen or so attempts it began opening with a flash. I use it mainly around the house, opening boxes, cutting cardboard... . I have other knives that I've used for similar chores, but I like the unobtrusive size of this knife. The liner lock holds the blade securely in the fully opened position, with no noticable play, and the quality is right up there with CRKT's finest offerings (disclaimer: I'm a fan of their knives because of the cost/quality equasion). 4 stars because 5 seems a little too perfect for me to offer.

Mine opens like a flash, right out of the box. Being a small framed folder, the assisted spring lever is small by necessity, but, as I said, it opens as easily as I want a pocket knife to. Expected reliability and worksmanship from this manufacturer. Well worth the price, nice little knife to be carried with loose shorts or dress pants.

Great value. Quality craftsmanship. Only drawback is the assitive-opening technology does not function as expected. The initial opening effort is stiff and the blade does not open completely without additional effort.
