5.0 out of 5 stars "Second Installment from the Greatest Arranger ever ~ Percy Faith", July 31, 2005
This review is from: Columbia Singles 2: 52 - 58 (Audio CD)
Maestro Percy Faith was cranking out beautiful arrangements in the early to mid '50s for singers of the Columbia Record stables (Tony Bennett, Rosie Clooney, Doris Day, Johnny Mathis and Guy Mitchell) to name just a few...but his true and real ambition was arranging tunes of the yesterday and composing songs of his own...now enters the album and tunes of "COLUMBIA SINGLES VOL. II 1952-1958", featuring countless melodies of many decades, all arranged in perfect order by Mr. Faith...in the next few paragraphs let's look at some of them...featuring Bernie Leighton (harpsichord), Barbara Manners, Paulette Sisters, Burt Taylor and the Percy Faith Chorus...all under the watchful eye of Mitch Miller (head of artist and repertoire department) of Columbia Records.

Originally released on Columbia Records from March 4, 1952 until September 12, 1958 all inclusive with the unmistakable "Percy Faith Touch" on arrangements:

1. FESTIVAL

Stand up and take a bow Dan Rivard (produced & compiled by), Ken Robertson (digital audio restoration), Collectables Records, Sony Music and of course "Our Man from Canada" Maestro Percy Faith have given all the fans what they have wanted and craved for years...there's a Volume 3 (1959-1967) in the works featuring the theme from "Lawrence of Arabia", theme from "Mahahonny", theme from "Advise & Consent", "The Sound of Surf", "Our Language of Love" (from "Irma La Douce"). "The Last Time I Saw Archie, "There Was A Time"(Faith), "The Brass Ring"(Faith), "Jacquline's Journey"(Faith), "Love Me Now(from "The Third Day")(Faith), "Lover's Prelude"(Faith), "Hawaiian Lullaby"(Faith), "Theme for Young Lovers"(Faith - 1st arrangement), plus many more coming your way with that "Percy Faith Sound"...gotta love it!
