5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent mid-top boot, I highly recommend these boots!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Boots But Pretty Heavy
I've owned many pairs of hiking boots from Columbia & in comparison these are surprisingly heavy. When I tried them on I wondered if the seemingly heavier weight was my imagination, but I compared them to my older Columbia Trailmeisters in the closet and the difference in weight is noticeable. (REAL NAME)
After shopping around for weeks, I finally came across a mid-top boot that is VERY comfortable with these Columbia Coremic Ridge. The color is great compared to some of the wild colors out there now and the boot really has a ton of support that works well when doing some minor yard work or when casual hiking with the family. After trying several pairs through the mail (seven at last count), I found these to be alot more comfortable than other brands like Timberland and Merrell. Columbia really seems to work hard at making the boot very comfortable and easy to wear. So far everything has worked great and the fit is true. I highly recommend Columbia over other boots.

On a side note: I also took a chance on a boot with the clips at the top. I never seem to like the clips on any boot I buy but Columbia has designed their clips to "hook" the lace in so when you are kneeling to pick-up something off the ground, the laces stay locked in. I have had a problem with the clips on other boots as the laces seem to slip out, but the Columbia design takes care of that issue, another plus to this boot.

4.0 out of 5 stars greatly priced and recommended for quality, November 19, 2008
I use this boot regularly as I am a sanitation worker and need the reliability of a good boot as well as great mobility with the support. These almost feel like sneakers on with the traction of a boot. They succumb to water very easily and the cold air, other than that if they're just used as a boot were traction is needed along with a boot that won't weigh your feet down as you try to get through the day they are excellent!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Boots But Pretty Heavy, March 15, 2010
I've owned many pairs of hiking boots from Columbia & in comparison these are surprisingly heavy. When I tried them on I wondered if the seemingly heavier weight was my imagination, but I compared them to my older Columbia Trailmeisters in the closet and the difference in weight is noticeable. On the plus side these boots are attractively styled, they are durable & well-made, and they fit to size accurately. They are also comfortable despite being pretty weighty and offer good ankle support. These will do well for casual wear or shorter distance hiking, but for serious treks where the heavy feel would be a liability I'd go with something lighter like the Columbia Trailmeisters.

4.0 out of 5 stars Columbia Coremic Ridge Boot, February 16, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Columbia Sportswear Men's Coremic Ridge Boot (Apparel)
This shoe fits very well and keeps your feet dry. It has a very safe tread. My husband is a truck driver and he has to get in and out of his truck multiple times a day. This shoe has the traction he needs for all weather situations.

5.0 out of 5 stars great for winter too, September 24, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Bought this for my husband as a winter boot. He loves it and it went all through the winter with no problems. Now that it is getting a little colder he pulled them out and can't wait to wear them again.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst boot I've ever owned, March 5, 2009
I bought a pair of these thinking the Columbia name meant quality. The book had almost no comfort under the foot. The heel cup was wide and blistered my heels. The boot was surprisingly heavy, stiff and hard to break in. The upper may be breathable but the lining held most of the perspiration and my feet were always wet. After a few weeks I gave them up and donated them.

5.0 out of 5 stars great boot, January 27, 2009
I am very happy with this footwear. It is lightweight yet sturdy. When I wear it out in the cold weather my feet never get cold even if I don't wear heavy socks. Thanks for such a great pair of boots at such a FANTASTIC PRICE!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good boot for the money, November 16, 2008
I was looking for a cheap boot that would have quality better than the WalMart stuff that's available here, rural MO

I was a little worried that the size 13 would be too small, I have a hard to fit foot somewhat narrow 14, though these fit fine with out rubbing my toes in a size 13. I bought them on sale for @$20 but I would purchase again at the $30 current price.

I use to hike and these don't have the support of a true hiking boot, but better than cheap boots.

I feel they are a good value at $30, and a deal at $20!

3.0 out of 5 stars Depends what you need them for., May 21, 2011
First, the good: I find the boot, once its broken in, to be very comfortable when I hike. They were a bit hard to break in given the material, but I expect sore feet from new boots anyways. I have worn these boots on climbs up several 6000 footers in the Appalachians as well as a climb up Mt. Washington and they performed as I would expect a budget boot to. Currently, I am training every day for bigger mountains in the west and these are the boots I use and mostly, they serve the purpose and provide some comfort.

Now, the not so good: These boots are sponges. They are not waterproof by any means and can not even be considered water resistant. I hike in the mornings when the grass is still wet from the dew and my feet are usually soaked though after about 10 feet of hiking. They get wet and they stay wet. Thanks to very thick wool socks, my feet are staying in good condition, no thanks to the boot. Also, not even a year old, the stitching on the tongue is coming undone.

I would only recommend these boots to people that hike in good weather, with dry conditions. On dry ground they are fine and provide good traction and support, but the slightest bit of moisture and you will be wishing you had another boot. Unfortunately, my budget does allow me to just buy boots anytime I want to, so I am stuck with these until they wear out (which may not be that long). When I do shop for new boots, I will not buy these again and will probably look to other brands that offer a more weatherproof boot that better fits the wet conditions I hike in.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bulletproof!, September 27, 2010
I'll keep this short... I've used this boot as everyday wear for the past two years, have gone on many hikes and even went up a couple of hills... I wish it would disintegrate so that I could buy a new pair of Columbia boots... but there's little sign of the wear I've put it through, and it'd be a shame to get a new pair when this one looks and goes so good! Sigh, maybe next year!!
