5.0 out of 5 stars WP and Comfortable
I originally ordered the wrong size and had to return the boots. A really fast, no-hassle process there; then I ordered the correct size and am now a very satisfied customer. Both with Amazon, and with my new Columbia boots. Very comfortable boot, warm inside, and very waterproof.

3.0 out of 5 stars The wide is too narrow
Poor fitting shoe. I have read elsewhere that the D, or normal width, is too narrow. When I get wide, 2e, they are just abit too wide for me but I have no choice. These were like D width. the shoe quality seemed good, however, a wide should be a wide and thus the 3 star rating. It is an indication of poor quality.

4.0 out of 5 stars very nice shoe, February 23, 2011

I just bought these and have not had a chance to test them in water yet because Im still buried in snow. This is the first time I have ever deviated from gortex so it is a big test for me. They are a very comfortable shoe and fit me very well. I will say, get a size larger and they may be tight on some people with a wider foot. I am usually a size 12D, but I bought these in a 13D and they fit perfect. If I had a chance to test them in water they probably would have received 5 stars since from reading previous reviews, they appear to be very waterproof.

Bought these shoes for my husband, who had foot surgery last year. He says these are the most comfortable shoes he's ever owned.

5.0 out of 5 stars Comfortable with good grip, July 2, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
For a while I've just been wearing my normal everyday boots on hikes, but after a particularly tough hike which left my boots in ruins I decided it was time to buy some dedicated hiking books.

They fit well and are comfortable to walk in for hours
Good traction
Let my feet breath
Didn't break the bank
Durable and don't show signs of wearing down(Yet anyway. I'm a pessimist :P)
And unlike my everyday boots these are super easy to get on and off(when you want them off)

5.0 out of 5 stars I've only had them on for two days, BUT, May 21, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
It's been a rough two days. I volunteer with Girl Scouts a lot and in these two days I have crossed a creek, paced around Girl Scouts doing an activity, stood for a while, walked on a not-so-clear trail, and it has rained. Have my feet gotten wet? NO.

Wonderful boots. They are comfortable enough to stand in and still waterproof enough to survive even the toughest Girl Scout conditions. I anticipate they will last a very long time.

4.0 out of 5 stars pretty good for the price, March 26, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Let me start off by saying that i got this item for 79.99 because i ordered a size 9 2E(9 wide) and i guess they were having a promo for that size so this review will be for that price and not the 99.99 or whatever the normal price for this product is with other sizes.

for the price, these shoes are great. columbia did a great job of fusing the lightness of a tennis shoe with the ruggedness of a hiking boot. great ankle support, extremely light weight and FOR THE MOST PART (i will touch up on this next) waterproof. I have a pair of keen's which i purchased for 135 dollars and they were considerably heavier, and stiffer. i tried on a pair of Merrell's and the reason i went with the Keen's is because the Keen's were much lighter and just as waterproof as the Merrell's - personally i have become very disappointed with Merrell's btw. and now i prefer these columbia firelane's to them all - mainly because they provide satisfactory waterproofness, they're lightweight, and they have good ankle support and they're cheaper than the alternatives.

those are pretty much the pros concerning this product - EXTREMELY LIGHTWEIGHT yet rugged, decently waterproof, good price, and good ankle support.

now the cons: when i say, "satisfactory waterproofness" i mean, if its raining and you're stepping in puddles and what not, they'll keep you dry. if you step in a small stream, they'll keep you dry, anything larger than that, and you'll get wet. i stepped in a creek that didnt seem very deep but i guess it was, i felt my toes get cold and then i realized they were wet. now let me get this straight, i know if you step in water deep enough then the water will spill over and get in your shoe regardless, HOWEVER, your heel and ankles would get wet first from water entering over the top, NOT your toes first. this is how i know that these shoes are not 100% waterproof. maybe i have defective shoes but they held up until i stepped into some deeper water. it was raining, and my feet stayed dry so i don't think they're defective but i dont know. . .
the other con i can think of is even with a size 9 wide, the toe is still just a bit narrow, that's one thing i do like about Keen's, they have a natural wide toe so this isnt an issue, but anyway i didnt send my columbia's back in because first of all, its not that bad, second of all, id have to pay more for a larger size and third of all, it took almost a month to get this pair in to me so i just cant wait (i hike regularly).

so bottom line: these shoes are great, just dont plan on sloshing thru lakes and rivers haha. anyway, they are very lightweight and will get the job done for a bit cheaper than the other brands, i highly recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love the service, February 2, 2011
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I knew I was ordering a good boot but I did not know if I was ordering good service. My size (wide) was difficult to find locally and a large chain that carried this style did not possess a single "wide" size (They made an electronic review of all their stores + warehouses). Amazon had them available and priced at the same sale price as the national shoe outlet I had tried earlier. My order was postage-free and arrived quickly. My boots fit beautifully - but had they not fit, I know I could have returned or exchanged them at no cost to me. I love my new boots and I am impressed with Amazon which is now my main shoe store.
