I wear this coat for my everyday commute; the liner is currently not installed, as it's not that cold here in New York City/New Jersey. For cold snaps, the liner is an excellent supplement to the shell. The hood is unlined but good at wind protection. The liner sleeves tend to "stick" while I'm putting the coat on, leaving me with liner protruding under the cuff, and the hood comes off just a little bit too easily, but these are minor things -- the coat keeps me warm and dry, the cuffs adjust well, the zipper is smooth. A good coat for a car commuter and walks of less than a mile in the cold.

I do suspect it wouldn't be as pleasant to wear in Minnesota, Upper New York, Upper New England, etc., but it's fine for those of us in the not-quite-as-cold climates.

I bought this coat for a trip to Colorado and it did the job. It is water proof and warm. I went skiing, snow shoeing and hiking and stayed warm and dry (besides sweat of course. And I got it $113 cheaper online. It was a great buy! Good luck.

It's light and warming efficient. I used this one in Germany, on february, and I had no problems in rainy days.
