5.0 out of 5 stars I love it, but
I do love these shoes the ankle support and stability is great, very comfortable, all you could want. However I am currently working in Iraq 100+ day, nights, etc. This boot is not something you want to wear in the day during the heat and at night it is still too warm for me causing my feet to sweat. So while these boots are probably great in the cool(sub 90's) no idea...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not cool at all
Didn't like the look/style when received looked different from photos online, they have a strange rounded toe, not very attractive. Another thing I didn't like was that the laces were applied to the shoe, kind of like they were "returned" stock. I ended up flicking them off on a local trading site for less than Paid. On a good note they are highly comfortable which is...

So while these boots are probably great in the cool(sub 90's) no idea for the cold the lack of ventilation is a problem for me. The normal Mil issue boots are not as comfortable but have better ventilation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Hiking Boots, April 8, 2011

I am very happy with my new Gorge Mid Omni-Tech Hiking Boots. But one thing you have to notice - The size!! I normally use 9½, but there was only 10 available. Lucky me, because the size 10 is a small 9½.
The boots are how ever very comfortable.

Another thing I didn't like was that the laces were applied to the shoe, kind of like they were "returned" stock. I ended up flicking them off on a local trading site for less than Paid. On a good note they are highly comfortable which is important outdoors, but i want to look cool at the same time. Not recommended.

1.0 out of 5 stars design needs work, November 4, 2010

I have always had great luck with Columbia brand products. I have some Columbia pants, shirts, jackets, and shoes that I abuse regularly and I've never been disappointed with any of them. In fact, I'm always quite pleased with the durability of their stuff. That's why I decided to try some of their hiking boots when my trusty old nike boots finally blew out after 8 to 10 years of reliable service. I wanted something waterproof for day hikes and hikes with a light pack and these fit the bill. When they arrived, they seemed a lot tougher than I anticipated and yet they were only a little heavier than my old boots. I took them for a test hike of 4 miles that evening. I was surprised at how comfortable they were even with out replacing the insoles, which is typical for me when I get new boots. At this point, I was in love with them, but it was short lived. Before the end of second hike I wore them on (less than 8 miles), one of the leather loops for the laces busted. I feel they should look at removing those leather loops in favor of metal ones, if there has to be loops at all.
