Obviously the other people who wrote reviews did not purchase this product, so not sure why they are reviewing it.
I did purchase this.

If you need a LARGE Heavy Vise, then this is for you. As it says it weighs about 163 lbs. The picture does not do it justice, this thing is huge

I would never pay $1,692 for it, but if you check back every so often the price will come down to a more reasonable level.

I worked for Caterpillar for several years and this is the type of vise we had in our machine shop. This is not for your Home garage, and you cannot find anything close to this at home depot or lowes as another review states.
Comparing this to a vise from lowes is like comparing a s-10 pickup to a 10 ton dump truck... they each serve the same purpose, to move material, but obviously at very different capacities.

If you need to hold heavy parts while you weld, cut, or slam them with a hammer this is perfect.
If you need to Thread pipe, especially heavy pipe this will work great for you.
Sorry a $.98 concrete block from lowes will not "hold" a 2" inch pipe while my pipe threader applies thousands of pounds of twisting force on it.

If you are a serious mechanic, custom fabricator, or similar this is a 5 out of 5.
If you are a weekend fix-it guy, this is a 0 out of 5

Apparently some folks don't understand the true passion of woodworking. I only buy THE most expensive tools. I get an amazing sense of self-worth knowing that I couldn't possibly have spent more the tools in my shop. In fact after I ordered three of these vices, I sent one off to be plated in 24 karat gold.

Those of you out there who are trying to 'save' money on your tool purchases just don't get it. The more you spend, the better you are. Period.

It looks like a nice vice, but for a normal price of $1,692.00 it should be. Of course through volume purchasing Amazon managed to get the price down to $651.33 but that is still a bit expensive for a 6" vice. Instead of spending $651.33 to hold a pipe, I will lay the pipe on my front porch and hold it down with a concrete block which costs $0.98 at Lowes.

6 in vise cost about 80.00 daller at home depot maybe 100.00 an i cant belive a 6in vise wait is 146 pounds that would be 100.00 a pound hahaha
