Columbian CO284 (#10) 4-1/8x9-1/2-Inch Self-Seal Security Tinted White Envelopes, 100 Count

Product description at the top says "self seal" so I was expecting one of those sealing strips covered by a length of paper, where you pull the paper off and stick the newly opened sticky substance onto the paper. The reality is much different; they already have some "stick" substance attached on either flap (or at least they are supposed to). Either because the product has waited too long in stock or because it was poorly designed (with regards to the sticky substance) the flaps on my envelopes are always loose. Even when you tighlty press the two edges, the flaps come loose after a very short period of time. Not only can you not use these envelopes for anything that requires discretion or security, but also you can't use it to mail anything to someone either. Unless, of course, you buy some glue and glue the flaps together...... Which takes away the whole point of "self-seal" in the first place. For a product that costs $11 and requires you to glue the flaps if you want them sealed, this is a very bad choice in my opinion.

IN A NUTSHELL: STANDARD SIZE - WELL-MADE - EASY TO USE - COMES IN GOOD BOX

These envelopes are a little bit pricey, but they do accomplish what one needs a #10 security envelope to do;

1]- They are made of relatively heavy paper and reinforced where something like a check might be within the envelope.

2]- They self-seal, which for me is a very big deal, as I usually either get them too wet or I cut myself, if I have to seal them myself.

3]- They come in a nice box, which I usually give to one of my kids when its empty. It keeps them thinking about re-cycling.

4]- I can pick them up at Office Depot and avoid shipping this item.

BOTTOM LINE: A REAL NO-BRAINER -- JUST CAN'T GO WRONG HERE!

An excellent product that it is very easy to take for granted.

Overall these are good envelopes. Paper quality is fairly sturdy, there is no see through with security coating, and they are self seal. The price is reasonable. The self seal could be a little more secure but otherwise these envelopes serve the purpose for which they are made.

Finally! An envelope priced fairly, that is actually excellent quality. I was tired of the envelopes I could pick up at the local grocery store etc. These are just what the doctor ordered. White wove, with instant stick closure, plus the all important security tint. Can't go wrong with these 100 count boxes of #10 Columbian envelopes.

You won't necessarily know if someone re-opens, peeks inside, and closes these Columbian-brand envelopes: the envelope flap self-sealing closures are only twice as sticky as Post-it notes.

Next time, I'll buy Mead, LePage, or Quality Park #10 security envelopes.

There really isn't too much to say about an envelope. You can't see through it. This is good as you don't want someone to notice that there is a check in there or, even worse, money.
The seal works fine. The previous ones I had required me to remove a strip and then press down. This envelope seals by itself. I will buy more of these when I run out.

These envelopes are exactly as specified in the description. The self seal flaps are sufficiently gummed and work perfectly. Delivery was also quick. For the price, you can't beat this envelope.

Envelopes arent typically all that exciting. But, I have to say that these envelopes are pretty cool. You don't have to lick them to seal, nice! You have to peel off a sticker backing, also nice! All you do is press the two pre-"glued" tabs together and, presto, you have a sealed envelope. Will buy again for sure.

These self-seal envelopes by Mead with their inside tint make it much harder for anyone to hold the envelope up to a light and see what's inside the envelope. The inside of the envelope has a very thin extra lining (thus, the "tint") to protect the security of your documents.

The envelopes measure 4 1/8 inches by 9 1/2 inches so they fit well along with the rest of your mail or any other standard, letter size envelopes you may be using. Each envelope can hold up to four folded 8 inch by 11 in pieces of paper comfortably. All right!!!

They are indeed self-sealing. If you have any other security concerns just seal the envelope up even more by using regular household tape to cover the line where the sealed flap meets the envelope.

I have used these envelopes and they help when I have to mail private or sensitive documents. I highly recommend them for anyone who requires extra privacy for their mail.

I thought the design looked a bit quirky but decided to give them a try. MISTAKE! Very difficult to insert multiple sheets. Even one sheet folded catches on the opening. Printed OK but fairly frequent jams in inket. Got so frustrated trying to use them I ended up relegating them to "file 13".
