5.0 out of 5 stars The black sheep of the puzzle games, January 3, 2007
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Columns (Video Game)
While most puzzle games are easy to pick up, hard to master, this game just is hard, period. Definitly the most obscure in terms of gameplay, Columns is much harder to master than Tetris. However though, it still may be a hard game, but it's very enjoyable.

Don't mark this as a Tertis ripoff. While it's very hard to knock of a game as just a Tetris Clone, from Lumines (NOT a Tetris Clone, bull****), but this game is different. Just because a game has blocks dosen't mean it's a Tertis Clone. I would also like to point out how people can just label these things that. Insead of a whole line, you must match three blocks of the same type in a row up down or diagonally. They get deleted, and that's abhout it. It's much harder because it's harder just to get three in a row, and since you cannot move the lbocks in any shape (you can change the color, but they remain upright). The game takes more time to learn, and it's not quite the killer app Tetris was, but it's fun, stylish (the play area sure looked better than the Tetris field, that's for sure), and suprisingly addicting. It's a game that any puzzle fan should check out.

YOu can find this game anywhere these days, but mostly in copies like Bejeweled. If you can find this game, get it, as it will keep you quite entertained especially if you are a puzzle fan. Just buy the game, it will entertain you. Like the black sheep, it dosen't exactly fit in thanks to it's abnoraml style (if you are a newbie, you might understand), but it's a great but overlooked game. Check it out.

5.0 out of 5 stars challenging, a good way to keep mind thinking, August 24, 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Columns (Video Game)
This is a very challenging game. Makes you plan & THINK where it's best to put them at. Be careful when you go thru sellers. We got it from Zenarcade, don't recommend zenarcade. We ordered game 11 Aug., got email from Amazon that game was shipped 12 Aug., zenarcade deceived Amazon, game finally arrived 24th Aug., get this, zenarcade mailed it 11 days LATER, mailed to us 22 Aug.! 11 days AFTER order, mailing label from post office has date on it. It took 2 says to get here. Called Amazon & emailed them. Rep said that was wrong, rule is for sellers to ship out in 2 days. Also, seller 'zenarcade' did not reply to any emails(3) sent, asked where game being shipped from to have idea how long it would take, no reply at all. Spoke to a rep from Amazon, he informed me zenarcade isn't doing well at all, he advised us to check on the ratings of how many customers buy from them, the 2nd rating after percentage after the first rating, for ex. 97% positive. Of course package had return address.

Since Amazon rules say the customer is responsible for contacting seller if need to, we can't when Amazon does not require for ALL sellers to leave a contact number & location where shipments come from, if seller ONLY wants to be contacted by email, they should reply. So I wrote to Amazon, they email polite letters that are already made(maybe they add a little themselves, they told me), they say how important the customers feedback is to them & how serious they take it, but customers need results. A lot of sellers do include where item(s) ship from & contact numbers, some won't. I am only referring to 'sellers', Amazon items shipped from Amazon are great!

One time I ordered with Prime, it said on check out that item will arrive in 3 days, sorry, it promises 2, not three, Rep kept saying sorry, I said thx for the sorry, but still not what's promised, I wouldn't give in, told rep want them to compensate, this happened twice, so one rep gave me $10 certificate & the other offered overnight shipping at their cost. Of course, they charge it & refund it back to the customer, make sure they send an email confirming the refund of their promises, it's your proof if anything goes wrong. Amazon rep was pretty good about it. Stayed on call for email to come in, got it, then ok to hang up.

Just got email from another rep, say sorry as always, this time it included the sellers email, they wait till I got package to send, replied by clicking NO where email asks if it resolved issue, then took me to another page & emailed the response. They waited till I got item, TOO late, they should have sent it when I asked BEFORE package arrived.

Be careful when the shipping charge is $3.99 for a game or anything else. Check when a package arrives, look at how much the postage was on stamp by post office. We were charged $3.99, label by post office showed $1.90, I wrote Amazon & advised them they owed me $2.10, if anyone owed them something, they persue. They claim rest is for packaging/labor, excuse to keep the rest. They emailed me a gift certificate for $3.99 to use on next shopping thru Amazon.com, which I really like. I told our mailman, said that was rediculous, they just making more $ from customers. I advised Amazon that $3.99 is cents away from Priority Mail & that the boxes at post offices are FREE, they even lend you the priority mail tape(for FREE) to tape up the box there & return after taping box! What more do they want?! Then Priority Mail is 2-3day guarantee! Not this up to 21 days standard mail?! Gees, unless it's coming from overseas. I just spoke to post office, 'media mail' is only for BOOKS & EDUCATIONAL VIDEOS, not games. They do inspect to make sure, machines to see inside.

Don't recommend zenarcade, shipped out item 11 days after order. Rep said that's bad, no explanation at all.

Getting back to game, it's really great! It's good for the mind to think.

This is the very first puzzle game I have played, & it is very fun. If you are a fan of puzzle games, & if you own a Sega Genesis, you really should consider getting this game.
