Must read for those who wish to carry a firearm,

This review is from: Combat Gunfighting (Paperback)
This book should be read by everyone who carries a firearm. It takes you through everything involved. The myths of self defense shootings are debunked and the reality of the physical, psychological and legal issues involved in a self defense shooting are put in terms that the beginner to expert can understand and appreciate.Michael Rayburn has included over 30 drills and shooting scenarios for practice to sharpen all the skills needed in a deadly force encounter. Illustrations and photos show how the drills and scenarios are to run to get the most benefit from them. As an NRA Instructor and having put close to one thousand people through the NRA Personal Protection Course and co-owner of www.handgunlaw.us I highly recommend "Combat Gunfighting," and will recommend it to all my students. Clear And Concise Manual for Combat Gunfighting,

This review is from: Combat Gunfighting (Paperback)
In the spirit of full discloser, I must admit that I am a confirmed point shooter and agree with most all of Michael Rayburn's theories of combat shooting.Having spent 30 years in some of the nations bad neighborhoods, I have had 4 serious draw-downs beyond Marine Corps combat duty overseas. In evaluating these experiences, I found that in all of the cases, as my weapon was presented, I had both eyes open and were fixed on the opponent's hands with only one exception....an assault by a fully fight-trained Pit Bull. In Michael Rayburn's 347-page book "Combat Gunfighting", he describes in some detail what happens under a full adrenalin dump, with one critical detail that most weapon trainers miss...... the fact that the chin will drop to protect the shooter's throat. As your weapon is presented, the shooter aligns the slide with a small focal point between his nose and the bottom of his chin. This small area is important, and you must find the spot in your presentation where you will be bringing the pistol to.....every time it is presented. A vast array of other skills are discussed, such as Phase I and II pistol jams, the differences between tactical and speed reloading, along with "officer injured" scenarios and how to overcome these real-life shooting problems. Many photos and drills are presented. This is a must for the serious law enforcement or civilian shooter, and it is my pleasure to recommend this manual and award it a strong 4.8 star effort. Rossi
