1.0 out of 5 stars This book is actually more of a pamphlet., August 26, 1998

This review is from: Combat Use Of The Double-edged Fighting Knife (Paperback)
This small booklet provides a very brief glimpse in to a variety of related topics. There is almost no information whatsoever on techgniques or training. This book would only be of value to someone who barely knew what a knife was, let alone how to hold one.

1.0 out of 5 stars worlds worst knife fighting guidebook!, August 11, 2003

This review is from: Combat Use Of The Double-edged Fighting Knife (Paperback)
One would expect much more from Rex Applegate...the main plot of the book revolves around how Applegate made a new knife that improved upon the Fairbairn-Sykes knife of World War Two fame; Applegate spends most of the book trying to sell his design, the Applegate-Faibairn combat dagger. The book gives a bit of knife fighting history and a few basic do's and dont's.....my advice, don't.......

3.0 out of 5 stars Just for whom is real interested in Applegate's work, June 28, 1999

This review is from: Combat Use Of The Double-edged Fighting Knife (Paperback)
This booklet it's only a brief collections of hints extrapolated by the books of Col.Applegate. It's a promotion for the Applegate/Fairbarn's combat knife too. No use for the beginner, no use for the expert, just a bit of history.

3.0 out of 5 stars A good basic guide to using the knife for combat., June 29, 2009
This review is from: Combat Use Of The Double-edged Fighting Knife (Paperback)
Sometimes good things come in small packages. This book (actually a booklet)is only 40 pages but it has some valuable basic information for anyone interested in knife combat. It is not a comprehensive text and does not show how to perform the thrusts and slash techniques. It does cover the basic stance, basic knife grips, history of the Applegate-Fairbairn knife and vulnerable areas of the body. In conclusion, this book was written by the late Col. Rex Applegate, which makes it a little bit of a collectors item.

Rating: 3 stars. Joseph J. Truncale(Author: Tanto-Jutsu Official Manual of Bushi Satori Ryu)

2.0 out of 5 stars Words Horrified me, but information was relevant, May 14, 2007
This review is from: Combat Use Of The Double-edged Fighting Knife (Paperback)
I felt the words were too vicious in description for me. I am a knife thrower, but a hobbyiest and I found this written like a hunter killing a deer.
