We love this lock. We don't have to worry about having keys with us when we realize we need to open it -- just dial in the combination. Changing the combination is easy, so if we have a house sitter stay we temporarily change the combination. Also, you can scramble the numbers while the lock is open to hide the combination and to lock it in the open position.

It's been installed outside on our gate for almost a year now. The sun hits it daily until noon and the black paint has faded some. It's been through one rainy season -- only 16 inches where we live. We use it several times a week. In the winter it got a little stiff, but it loosened up again once the weather dried up.

This is a great lock. Simple and convenient! I have 5 of them in use! You just have to remember to ALWAYS turn the dials off the actual combo number, even when throw bolt is in open position, so the combo cant be changed...but that's not really a problem...just a reminder. I wish the throw of the bolt was a bit longer for applications where gap is 1/2" or more...bolt has limited reach. VERY easy to use! and decent quality! Makes locking my sheds and trailer easy...NO KEYS NEEDED!

Once reset by someone else, there is no way to reset it. The lock cannot be removed due to the nature of the one way screws, unless you call a locksmith. The customer service supervisor in online chat actually made fun of me.

He said,
"Try this. turn the combination to 1234, then rotated all the dials counterclockwise to 4567. Tap on the right hand side and it should open."

Me:
"It is open. You mean it should reset?
The problem is I can't close it."

Tim:
"Sorry, I could not resist. Of course there is no other option I do indeed there is nothing else we can offer."

So I called, upset at the supervisor, and spoke with the president who was completely indifferent. He said if I hire a locksmith and return the lock, they will refund the price of the lock. Of course, the locksmith will cost way more than the lock did and the president wouldn't pay for that. So, now my gate is now open. I cannot lock it and I cannot afford to remove the lock to replace it. And the neighbors were robbed 2 days ago.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. It is poorly designed, with no safety feature, and the company doesn't care.
