Highly reccomended for a minimalist!,

This review is from: Combi Savvy EX Stroller - Claret (Baby Product)
I purchased this stroller after having a horrible expirience with another one. I chose this over the other similar model because it had a few upgrades that I found importantPROS - Removable belly bar w/ two cupholders for baby - PADDED five-point harness - large canopy with peek-in-windows and storage - taller handle(than the one found on my other stroller) for my husband (6"0) - large and sturdy wheels - storage compartment for keys, sunglasses, cell phone etc. - two water bottle holders (NOT for anything without a "leak proof" lid) - the stroller folds easily - once the stroller is folded theres a carry strap to lug it around the airport - its small and easy to fit into a trunk with 1,000 other things crammed inside of it - we purchased ours from BRU and it was easy to assemble (snap on wheels, canopy, and belly bar). CONS - Baskets a bit on the small size, no shopping can fit - The seat takes two hands to recline it, and I have to stop what I am doing - I really wish it came with a boot, or attachments so it could be a universal stroller with infant carriers DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NEW, AND OLD MODELS - This model has a seat that sits fully upright (this is a PRO for the new model!) - This model is a bit sturdier (PRO) - The new one is also a bit more expensive (CON) - You can have speaker bonnets in this model (I am not sure about the other though) (PRO) - There isnt a color selection with this model (CON) - The handles are much better than the other ones, but are still a tad short (my husband slouches and complains within 45 minutes of pushing) (CON) I am not too sure about Combi's service with THIS model, but after a miss-hap with another one of thier products, they were very polite and sent me the replacement part (as well as a few other things, like the last reviewer mentioned) and the shipping was free and fast delivery. I really reccomend this stroller, thus earning 4.5 stars.

An amazing stroller,

I have 2 kids, 2 1/2 year old daughter, and my almost one-year old son. I wanted a nice, compact, lightweight stroller after struggling with a huge travel system the last time!I didnt purchase the "matching carrier" I bought a snugride, and just didnt use it with the stroller. This was easy to do since it reqlines all the way and comes with (atleast ours did) a boot to keep baby in a nice bassinet! The seat is very comfortable, extremely well padded, yet its not too plush so that it makes baby swet... the perfect combination! It has a very secure, very impressive 5 point harness. Some strollers try to get away with the flimsy 5 points that are like helmet straps, or worse... they go for the lapbelt! For us it was important that our baby was safe and secure. The baby has a nicely sized "tray", it really only has two cupholders, one for a bottle, and the other for a sippy for my daughter, or for some cheerios in a snack-cup... It actually snaps open, and closed which is easy for me to do, but my son hasnt yet figured it out. The canopy is large and much better than the Aria (the other stroller we were looking at!) We didnt want to have to also purchase a jogger, (since we have a hand-me-down twin jogger) just to go to the park or for visiting relatives in the city! It COMPLETELY covers his head, and theres a nice peek in window with a cover. This canopy is very durable and I have never had problems with it. Theres no real "parents tray", but little pouches. Theres two for a bottle with a cap, like a soda bottle, a water bottle, or even your own cup with a lid to place coffee in... The pouch can store keys, a pacifire, my and my husbands phones, my wallet, and even some little toys that the kids got out of the eggmachine! I have heard that most strollers arent going to be putting actual cupholders on anymore due to the risk of mommies and daddies dropping their hot beverages on baby, this is, in my opinion, a better solution anyway. The basket is small, but I can fit kids jackets, my small purse, my small baby bag (diapers, wipes, powders, extra bottles, and a few pacifires) so if you love to carry everything, dont expect to get much use outta this one! If we are going out shopping, I make sure to just cram my purse things into the baby bag and the small compartment, I either make the kids wear long-sleeves, or a jacket to tie around their waists, and I can fit some shopping in the basket, and over the handles without tipping the stroller. It rides smoothly for a 14 pounder, and I dont find it bumpy or rickity at all... the only time its bumpy is if I go over grass or a curb... not the strollers fault at all. Its easy to turn and I bet it could turn on a dime! I have brought this thing to my MIL's apartment in Manhatten (where I am stopped atleast twice and am asked where I got it), I have brought it to the zoo, aquariums, museums, parks, malls, airport, CHRISTMAS SHOPPING, neighborhood walks and even to the beach and the park. This stroller is easy to fold, we manage one handed, and theres a convinient carry strap for when you are at the airport, or about to go into a zoo exhibit which doesnt allow strollers, no need to just drop it off and rush the kids through the place to make sure its "okay", just haul it over your shoulder. I too found it easier to fold before going outside on yucky days to ensure that the stroller doesnt get gross as well. I found this stroller easy to use, and easy to push. My son LOVES it, and thankgod my daughters independent or else I would have to be using a twin stroller! Its durable, lightweight, easy to use, and a great price... you cant get anything better than that!

I really love this stroller and I did my homework before I bought it. It was between this one and the lightweight Peg Perego which was the same price. The only thing missing is a parent tray (well really a cup holder) but now that I see how it folds up, I see why it would be hard to put a parent tray in unless it popped off before you folded it up. It steers really easily and I love the zip pouches that I can put my keys. Plus, I prefer the fact that there is a button release for the seat reclining positions instead of a strap that you tighten up. I also thing that the sun shade is alot better than the other brand which has such a small shade that it is almost useless. I also love the shoulder stap. At first I didn't think I would, since it seemed in the way but this strap makes it so easy to carry. Has nice padded seating and comfortable straps for my little tyke!!I think it is a great purchase to replace my worn out travel system stroller that has served it's purpose but is very worn out. I love that it is so compact and takes up such a small space. Worth the money for a great ride.

The finest of its kind,

I absolutely love this stroller! My Cosco Travel system was useless after about 6 months and I swore I would never purchase a large, bulky, mostly-made-of-plastic, commercialized stroller again! I purchased the Combi TS DLX which is one step up from the Savvy Soho, but the only real difference is the sound system, which I hardly use. As the other reviewer mentioned, the basket is somewhat small, however, it will hold much more than it initially seems. I can fit my son's jacket, the baby's jacket and my diaper bag in the bottom. In my opinion, people tend to overload their baskets just because they look big enough and, as a result, they put added pressure on the wheel axles, causing their strollers to wear more quickly. (i.e. My Cosco squeaked like a bad shopping cart!) This stroller has two cup holders on the baby's tray, allowing enough space for a sippy cup on one side and a First Year's snack cup on the other. I love the parent's pouch on the handle. My husband and I can each have a water bottle or other screw-top drink, and we have a place for our keys, cell phone, and pacifier. Since I do not use the sound system very often, the pouch that would normally hold the portable CD player is great for my wallet or small purse and it's hidden on the back of the canopy behind the removable pouch/drink holder so it's kept nice and secure. The only con for me that I noticed in the transition was that I had no where to put a cup of coffee. This is actually a bonus because everytime I put it in the plastic cup holder on my old Cosco, it eventually spilled out and all over the tray with every little bump or crack I rolled over! If I know I'm going to be shopping all day, I use my sling diaper bag that sits comfortably across my back and I have the bottom basket free for bags. Again, the basket is not as large as other strollers might be, but this keeps me from buying too much and makes the husband very happy! :) I also love how compact this stroller is when folded. I have a mini-van, yet that old bulky stroller took up the entire back. The Combi will stand upright, allowing almost the entire back for groceries! I took my daughter on a flight by myself when she was just over a year and this stroller was a life-saver! It has a strap that allows you to throw it over your shoulder when it's folded all the way, and this was great when I boarded the plane. It was actually made to fit in the overhead compartment! If it is raining outside, I simply keep it folded, throw it over my shoulder, and carry the baby into the store/back to the car with everyone/everything covered under the umbrella. I never have to put a wet, muddy stroller in the back of my car! I was really frustrated with the padding on my Cosco. Once I washed it, the velcro never stayed completely fastened and it would constantly slide down and bunch up behind my daughter. She could also wiggle out of the waist straps no matter how tight I kept them. The Combi's velcro has never come unfastened in over a year and the straps are a very comfortable, padded 5 point harness, keeping my daughter secure. She used to try to fight with the straps, but then eventually gave in and admitted defeat! I would never refer to this stroller as rickety, as did the previous reviewer. It is very lightweight and has a bounce to it, but that's because it only weighs an amazing 14 lbs! I cannot wait to have my next baby-I am looking forward to purchasing the Combi infant carrier that matches this stroller. I love that it lays completely flat to accommodate an infant wanting to sleep on their side. I could never get the Cosco stroller to recline all the way and my daughter would slide down and seem very uncomfortable in the early months. This stroller has a built in fabric liner that can wrap around the child's tray and velcro on the other end, allowing their feet to stay inside, almost like a cradle/buggy. I cannot believe that I have been using this stroller almost double the amount of time that I owned the Cosco and the Combi still looks brand new! By 6 months the canopy on the Cosco had completely faded and the fabric had already started to shred along the seams! The Combi's fabric has the durability of nylon, yet the comfort of cotton! In eight years of experience with children, I have never been so impressed with a stroller!

I registered for this stroller for my now 5 month old son, and couldnt be happier!First of all, my stroller that I purchased was damaged, a wheel was warped, the handles were deeply scratched, and the seat cover had stains all over it! The friend who gave it to me was very embarrassed, but after calling the company they sent us the package sticker, and let us send it back, and gave us an entirely new stroller (along with an extra set of wheels, and a coupon!) free of charge within the week. They were very polite, and I heard the sympathy in their voice... so I for one think the service is superb! I also love that the stroller is EVERYTHING, yet compact! I can fold it with one hand (took about 2 weeks to get it right though) and opening it is no trouble either. I can fit the Savvy along with many other things in the rear of my Subaru, as well as my husbands smaller car. I also happen to like how I can navigate through the stores with this stroller, I never bump into anything, and its already lightweight size feels even lighter! The Savvy can also take on outdoor surfaces, so its very versitile. I love the five-point harness, its easy to use and very secure. Its well padded and very comfy! I love the snack bar, it can hold a bottle and a first years snack cup without anything falling out. The bar is also great for toys! I love that its easy to open, close and even remove! The seat reclines fully, and it uses the button type, so I can do this while walking and without waking up my son. In the pictures Amazon shows it looks like the primitive strap one, but ours was not... that strap is for carrying the Combi (GREAT on airplane flights, and walks through the non-stroller exhibits at the zoo). The canopy is quite large and useful. It really protects my son, as well as can be easily retracted so I can see him, as well as having a window. For me and daddy there are equally wonderful features. The handle bar is high enough so my 6"1 husband doesnt hit the wheels while walking, nor does he slouch. Theres a nice compartment for keys, a cellphone, or my wallet also. I happen to like the two waterbottle holders as they are great for my toddlers sippy, and my waterbottle (filled with anything I choose). I also happen to like the few pockets on the canopy for pacifiers and such. The basket is very small, but we can manage to fit our small diaper bag, and a small blanket with a few other things inside. My packages after shopping are strung over the clips on the handle bars, something that my friend gave to me along with the stroller (from a $2 accessory kit). I just wish that the stroller could hold a SnugRide, but since it couldnt I just didnt bother with purchasing one. All in all this stroller **And the company** is fantastic. I highly reccomend it.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

Contrary to the other reviewer, I bought this stroller and am largely satisfied with it. It is nice and lightweight, and folds down to be compact. I like the 5 point harness and the ride is fine. For strolling down the street, I put the front wheels in the fixed position and they do not get caught (something the prior reviewer may want to try). For maneuvering in stores or other crowded spots, the front wheels will spin. I have only two complaints about the stroller: first, when you are pulling it up a step (backwards), the brake can be triggered; second, the handle is fixed so you and your baby are always looking in the same direction (ie, you cannot stare down at your little bundle, except through the window in the top of the canopy).

This stroller is light weight, easy to manuever, fold and carry.Great for travel and every day strolls. It reclines, has a big sun shade, cup holder, insulated bottle holder & a zip pouch for keys etc. The only thing we'd like to see improved on Combi strollers is the under seat storage, we'd like more room. You can stash a couple small - med bags under the seat, but don't plan a shopping spree at the mall with this stroller. This is a great stroller & very sturdy, it's my 2nd combi - I only bought a new one because I needed a new infant car seat and the Combi Connection seat wouldn't fit on my old (6yrs) Combi Savvy Travel Stroller. Everyone I know who has a big Graco travel system hates it - so buyer beware.

If you don't like the Claret color...,

This review is from: Combi Savvy EX Stroller - Claret (Baby Product)
I was talking to Combi customer service the other day and the very nice lady told me that this stroller is now available in Silver Pearl, it's just a matter of finding a store that has it. The Ultra Savvy stroller, which also comes in the Ocean and Carolina Sky colors, is essentially the same stroller (it's even the same price). The only real difference, I think, is the carseat attachments - the EX is made for the Combi Connection, while the Ultra Savvy holds the Tyro (as well as many other manufacturers' carseats). However, the Ultra Savvy can hold the newer (and better, I think) Connection carseat if you order the EX's attachment pieces from Combi and use the connection strap to hold down the foot of the seat. It took a lot a research and communication with Combi to discover this, so I thought I'd share. Combi customer service is excellent, by the way.

Great for traveling, not great for the mall...,

This review is from: Combi Savvy EX Stroller - Claret (Baby Product)
We got this stroller for our 10-month old son because we needed something smaller and easier to transport than our Graco travel system. We shopped around for quite some time before deciding on this model. So far, we have really enjoyed the stroller. It works great for road trips and travel but not so great for errand type trips like to the mall. The basket underneath is not big enough for shopping bags or anything of that sort but will hold a small diaper bag and jacket etc. for baby. The stroller is easy to fold and fits easily in any trunk. It is also very comfortable for baby, and completely reclines, our son took a 2-hour nap while we were sight-seeing and was completely comfortable. All in all, this is a good buy although a bit pricey.

Hands down best purchase I made,
This review is from: Combi Savvy EX Stroller - Claret (Baby Product)
I searched for 2 months for the right stoller/car seat I could find and this stroller is Hands Down the best I could find. I wanted a "travel system" but refused to break down and buy one of those Way Too Big/Way Too Heavy travel systems. This stroller fits the Combi car seat so that you have a "travel system" but is very light and extremly easy to work. I can even fit the stoller in the truck of my husbands very small car. The stoller flips open and folds quickly. I can't recommend this stoller with matching car seat highly enough.Hope this helps! |
