The Skin Obsession 40% Alpha Beta Chemical peels can truly stop your acne outbreak in its tracks. The Beta component, Salicylic Acid, is a common treatment for acne, but we have increased the concentration to a more effective level than you can get over the counter. In addition, we have the second component, the Alpha Hydroxy acid: Glycolic acid, at 40%, which helps keep your skin exfoliated and fresh, preventing the ability of acne to form under the skin and in the pores. The next step up from our 30% Alpha Beta peel, this peel can retexturize the skin, restoring the radiance of your youth. These easy to use peels combine the benefits of both the AHA's and BHA's, with little to light peeling at the 40% concentration. These peels are repeated monthly and this kit provides enough peel solution for approximately 6 months worth of peels. I get a lot of questions about this, so I will clear up the confusion now: The steps are actually backwards from the name, the medical establishment named it, not me! So you will apply the Beta acid first (even though the beta is listed second in the name) and the Alpha Acid goes on 2nd (even though it is listed first in the name) The bottles are labeled Step one and Step 2, and that will match the directions you are given with the peel, use step 1 first and step 2 second. Hope this clears things up for those of you who are really curious about that kind of stuff! Your skin will feel softer, look smoother, with improved texture and tone and reduced hyperpigmentation (sun damage). Those are the differences on the surface of your skin. I was shopping around for a light, less scary, chemical peel than the professional ones. This was exactly what I needed! I was sill nervous when it arrived and did my first treatment but I am VERY pleased with the results. The 2 little bottles re all you need (plus household baking soda) and that is literally IT. Not cream, no after care regimen, nothing. It is light enough to not do a huge nighttime lotion repair regimen that some offer, yet, it is strong enough to really peel the first thin layers of skin. I was not laid up in bed for days, jut dry patches that flaked off. I did start using thin cotton rounds instead of cotton balls though. The cotton balls seemed to absorb more than putting the product on my face.

It is a tad painful... ouch. But within 10 minutes I was completely fine, NO after effects. Rinsing hurt worse than applying - just to give you a heads up. I believe the instructions say first step 3 minutes 2nd step 5, and I always do 1st step 2 minutes 2nd step 2 minutes. Maybe I'll progress but that's all that I can handle for right now. I personally recommend NOT moisturizing for a couple days. My second peel took forever because I kept moisturizing and it ended up being 4 or 5 days of peeling... ugh.

I am on peel 4 and I want to do maybe 8. I have pale skin with black heads in problem areas and a few pinkish red scars from past bad pimple. The first peel took the pinkish red scars right off! I was so happy. After a week or so I could see them again but VERY light and no where near as bright and big as they were. My make-up went on smoother after my first peel, and I started getting less black heads!

Follow the directions, do what it comfortable, and you should get great results!

I'm a 34 yr old black woman with caramel colored skin and have been suffering from cystic acne for years. My skin is combination, but mostly oily in the t-zone and just a mess of acne scars on my chin. For the past few months, I'd been getting a new, big, fat, cystic zit on my chin every week. I'd used glycolic acid in the past and read some reviews about peels, so thought I'd give this a shot.

I've done this peel twice and saw results even just after the first. It does burn, but the second time wasn't as bad. A light scab forms over "bad" skin which peels off starting the 3rd or 4th day revealing brighter, clearer skin. I was a little red, but went out the night I did even my first one and no one noticed. Peeling off the old, dead skin does make way for everything that's bubbling below to make its way to the surface, so do expect some minor breakouts, but mine didn't do NEARLY as much damage and scarring as they would've in the past.

Overall, a great product for people who suffer from bad skin. My old scars are much less reduced with just 2 peels. I can't wait to see what regular use does for my skin.

This is exactly what I have been looking for to even out my complexion which has sun damage and hyperpigmentation from acne. The peeling works within a day or two and is not too extreme so that I can still go out in public and not look like a snake shedding its skin. My skin looked better after the first use, and after three uses once a week I started getting compliments on my skin. A dermatologist office quoted me $5,000 to resurface my face, but this stuff works just as good.
