Mrs. Rogers Finallly Gave Amelia Bedelia a Pink Slip!,
By
This review is from: Come Back, Amelia Bedelia (I Can Read Book 2) (Paperback)
While Amelia Bedelia was removing her chocolate cream puffs from the oven, Mrs. Rogers asked for cereal and coffe for breakfast, (she should have said "a bowl of cereal and a cup of coffee,") Poor Amelia poured coffee over a mug of cereal and Gave it Mrs Rogers. In Return, Mrs. Rogers Fired Her, without consent from her husband. So Amelia Bedelia volunteers as a beautician's assistant and pins up a client's hair with sharp safety pins and sticks her. After that she is hired as an assistant-beautician and cuts up expensive dresses to rags, after she stamps some letters at the Post Office by Jumping on them, and sews up a cut with sewing thread, Amelia Bedelia almost forgets about her cooled dessert at home. So she goes back and makes the chocolate cream, so Mrs. Rogers forgives her and rips up the pink slip. After that, at lunch, She heats Mr Rogers a can of soup without opening it in a no-water saucepan on the gas stove.-DANGEROUS. But since then ther have been many Amelia Bedelia Books, and no pinks slips.

I like this book because she doesn't understand words.,

This review is from: Come Back, Amelia Bedelia (I Can Read Book 2) (Paperback)
The author makes Amelia Bedelia think that people are telling her the other meaning of their words. It's fun to see what trouble Amelia gets into. In this book Amelia Bedelia goes from job to job and they kick her out all the time because she misunderstands the bosses. This is a good book for someone who is in second or third grade.

Amelia Bedelia's antics make this a very funny book.,

Amelia Bedelia does not understand things like homophones orhomographs. This causes her to make many mistakes in"interpreting" what other people tell her to do. The way she does things is strange. And her employers thing so too. This is an easy (quick) read for an 8 year old.

Amelia Bedelia is Job Hunting, Look Out!,
By
This review is from: Come Back, Amelia Bedelia (I Can Read Book 2) (Paperback)
When Amelia Bedelia, the housekeeper who literally takes everything literally, brings Mrs. Rogers her cereal with coffee, the woman takes one look at those flakes floating around in her coffee cup and fires Amelia before she gets a chance to fill her creme puffs. Amelia, one who always sees the bright side of life, sets out to find a job. First she goes to work in a beauty shop, but when she's told to pin up a customer's hair and does it with pins from her purse, she is fired. Then she finds work in a dress shop as a seamstress, but she shortens all the dresses with a scissors and is fired. As a file clerk, she stamps on the letters with her feet when told to stamp them and files papers with a fingernail file when told to file them. And when she goes to work for a doctor, well, you'll just have to read this book to your child to find out what mischief she gets into there. Fortunately she makes a terrific cream puff, because when she remembers she forgot to fill them and goes by the Rogers', they hire her back, because those cream puffs are just oh so good.
My son Devon is fast approaching three. He knows his letters, upper and lower case. He knows they make words and he loves to sit while I read Amelia Bedelia stories to him. We've been doing it for over a year now. At first I made up the story line as his didn't have the attention span or the ability to understand. Now I've started reading, pointing to the words as I go along. Ms. Parish has written an excellent series for children and in this one, Wallace Tripps illustrations set off Amelia's tales to a tee. If you want your toddler to read early, and I do, then this is a series for you.

A good book by Peggy Parish,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Come Back, Amelia Bedelia (Turtleback School & Library Binding Edition) (I Can Read Amelia Bedelia Level 2) (School & Library Binding)
I read a hilarious book called Come Back Amelia Bedelia written by Peggy Parish. Of course Amelia Bedelia is my favorite character. I like her because she seems so friendly but funny. Amelia Bedelia cracks me up because every time she tries to do a job she does it wrong. If I were her I'd keep trying my best. If I could have maid I would pick Amelia Bedelia because she can cook well, ans she isn't hard to get along with. If she left I would be sad. This is why Amelia Bedelia is a good book.

At least Amelia Bedelia can make perfect cream puffs,

In "Come Back, Amelia Bedelia," the trouble begins when Mrs. Rogers asks for some cereal with her coffee. Of course, Amelia Bedleia does exactly what she is told to do and puts the cereal in the coffee. Because of this, Amelia Bedelia is fired by Mrs. Rogers. That means our heroine has to leave the Rogers' home and look for a new job. But no matter where she goes, from the hairdresser to the dress shop, she does what people tell her and she ends up being told to leave. Being a file clerk or helping a doctor with his patients do not seem to suit Ameali Bedelia's peculiar talents either, so it is a good thing that the one thing she always gets right is making perfect cream puffs. The charm of the Amelia Bedelia stories does not need to be explained to any kid who has been told what to do by their parents. What kid would not want to, just once, literally do what they and told to do the same way as Amelia Bedelia (notice the look on Dickie's face when she puts on the doctor's gloves). Of course, they might only get away with such behavior once, but if a kid picks there moment it could be pretty good (my best moment was when a young woman asked me if I had the time and I said, "Sure, what do you want to do?"). This 1971 story, An I Can Read Book, is illustrated by Wallace Tripp, who does a nice job of capturing both Amelia Bedelia's beguiling smile and her look of confusion when people get upset at her for doing exactly what she was told to do. Young readers will get hooked on this literally-minded lady, so it is a good thing that there are other examples of her misadventures to be enjoyed, such as "Thank You, Amelia Bedelia" and "Amelia Bedelia and the Surprise Shower" (just think of the possibilities with that last one).

Yes, come back Amelia Bedelia! I love Amelia Bedelia, and I never want her to leave!Amelia Bedelia is the housekeeper for Mr. and Mrs. Rogers. (I would say she's probably about 18?) She takes everything literally; doesn't understand figures of speech. Because of this, she gets into some very interesting situations. But she does have an incredible talent: cooking, because she follows directions verbatim. In this particular book, Amelia is fired because she takes things literally, and ends up doing the wrong things. But will she get her job back? There is one thing that should save her . . . (I can't tell you what it is, you have to read the books.) I love Amelia Bedelia books. If you haven't been lucky enough to discover her, I recommend these books. Amelia Bedelia is one of my favorite characters. Even though these are children's books, I find a bit of coziness in these books. I have loved Amelia Bedelia every since I discovered her (when my kids were little.)

Although Mrs. Rogers finds her impossible the world loves her. In this story innocent Amelia tries to help people of the town but takes signs too literal and ends up making a mess from place to place. Very entertaining and good for a young reader's engagement with words.

My daughter and I love Amelia Bedelia. Ive been reading them since I was a kid and they are still great! They constantly have my daughter laughing out loud. The vocabulary is great because it introduces new words and also exhibits how some words can have more than one meaning. This of course is why Amelia is always so confused. All in all this is a very funny and entertaining read. I highly recommend these books.
