From the very beginning of Come Back to Me, I was hooked. The opening is absolutely heartbreaking and immediately got me invested in the story of Jessa. Too many times, I feel like New Adult books are recycled plots with different characters. Come Back to Me was unlike anything else from the NA genre I've read, and I think all of the credit goes to Mila Gray's writing. She was able to tell a tale that sucker punched me right in the feels and still make me care about it and race towards the finish. That's talent, y'all.

There are a handful of characters in this story that are essential and they are all so different. Even though there are some that I disliked, I loved to dislike them. Jessa's Dad is overbearing and rude, but he fits his role perfectly. I felt for Jessa and had sort of a kindred spirit thing going on with her. She was the perfect heroine for this story. I absolutely adored her and rooted for her fiercely.

Can I preach? This may sound like preaching. Forgive me. The real reason why I struggle with New Adult are the amount of unhealthy and abusive relationships that are portrayed as romantic and sexy. It ain't cute. Mila Gray absolutely dismissed that. The main thing that made me LOVE Come Back to Me was that it showcases a healthy, happy relationship. There are so many ways to portray a relationship, and it's absolutely disheartening to see unhealthy and abusive relationships take the stage with NA. Whenever you've been in one of those relationships, it isn't sexy. It's hell. Thank you Come Back to Me for proving the point that sweet and healthy can be sexy!

All in all, I wish there were more books like Come Back to Me. I can only hope that Mila Gray will contribute more to the genre of New Adult. I will be the first in line to pick up anything NA she writes. If you're looking for a break from the drama and cliches, do yourself a favor and read this book!

Kit Ryan enlists in the marines with his childhood best friend, when he leaves he cant get the one girl he cant have out of his mind- Jenna, his best friends sister. When they come home on leave he learns that the feelings are mutual and he starts seeing her secretly. Before they have to return to base the ball drops when Jenna’s family finds out they have been seeing each other. Jenna ends up leaving home because her dad is not adjusting to the news well and she tells Kit to come back to her. Tragedy strikes and when the car pulls up with the men in uniform she knows its her brother or her lover. She finds out her brother was part of a terrorist attack.

I loved this book I couldn’t put it down, who doesn’t like reading about boys in uniform. I was a little nerves in the beginning because you know one of them is going to get hurt. It was painful reading about Jenna’s brother passing because they were very close and he was very young with a love and new baby on the way, but it would have been devastating losing Kit after all him and Jenna went through just to be together. I would buy this book and recommend it to anyone!!

So you should all know by now that my lovely Jazzy is obsessed with all things Sarah Alderson. I’ve been meaning to read something by her for the longest time since Jasprit can’t shut up about the magic that is Sarah Alderson. And for a good reason too, let me tell you! When Sarah published Come Back to Me under her pseudonym Mila Gray, all of my friends’ blogs blew up with praise and that was honestly where I lost my patience (in a good way). Reading it almost right after Thrive (which I knew would create the biggest bookish hangover) was a risky move, but I just knew that Come Back to Me was something I couldn’t simply ignore.

"When you get a chance for happiness, you have to seize it before it's snatched away."

Come Back to Me opens with a brutal scene and we know immediately that something bad has happened. It’s all painted out for us, but we don’t know the final detail yet. But you can guess! I guessed right (it’s not hard to). However, knowing what the first half of the novel is going to lead to? It’s not easy to force yourself to continue. I DARE YOU TO try though! Why? Well, it’s one of the most adorable, enjoyable romances ever and makes you feel all the feels. I had a constant smile painted on my face, butterflies taking flight in the pit of my stomach and I really didn’t want this story to end.

Jessa is a wonderful young girl whose growth is inspiring. She starts out as a shy, delicate girl and develops into a gorgeous young woman who knows her worth, isn’t afraid to speak her mind or reach for her dreams. Kit is there to help her reach that point and honestly? It felt so horrible to see it all being ripped away with mere words that Jessa hears one day. Don’t worry though! By the end of the novel, she’s still very much the girl we fell in love with and couldn't help but root for. And where do I even begin to describe the amazingness that is Kit? I can’t ever do justice to what I feel for him; to what he portrays in this story. I knew immediately that I was going to fall for these characters and I fell hard, you guys! Their struggles, passion and positive emotions—they all make you feel the feels. I can promise you that.

I loved this novel as you can probably already tell, but it wasn’t without flaws for me. First of all, the reveal about the reasons behind the feud between Kit and Jessa’s dads? It was timed well inside the story, but to me..? I had already figured it out beforehand, so drawing the reveal out didn’t really suit me. But I was still happy to be right! Also, while I loved loved loved the adorable romance between Jessa and Kit, I wanted the first chapter and its aftermath to arrive a tad sooner. It doesn’t arrive until 70% of the book is through and it felt as though the final third of the book was a little underdeveloped thanks to it. I still very much enjoyed how the aftermath was dealt with; just wish it had been explored a little more in depth.

To conclude this overload of “I loved *insert X*” sentences, I truly did adore this novel. So much that it’s a repeat of Five Ways to Fall and I’m going to get myself a paperback so I can re-read it all over again (though may skip all the teary parts for the sake of my sanity) and mark my favorite passages; cuddle and pet this pretty. If you’re a fan of NA, character-growth, amazing romance or just enjoy an inspirational and well-written book, well.. This is me telling you that you should pick Come Back to Me up right now and devour it asap!

You need to read this novel. That is an imperative. It's brilliant. I have read a lot of YA fiction of late, but not too much NA fiction. Well, what a way to break back in - thank you Mila Gray! 'Come Back to Me' is a sensational debut for Gray, Sarah Alderson's pen name. This is a novel which will not disappoint. From the moment I met the characters I was engulfed - swept up in the emotions of young love (and lust!) and of course hot bodies and military uniforms and myriad complications.

Jessa Kingsley, just coming of age, is ready to break out into the world but her father has different ideas. He rules their house with an iron fist, full of unexplained anger, and the person he hates the most is Kit, the one guy Jessa has swooned over since she was young. He's also her brother Riley's best friend. Needless to say, they manage to find a way to keep their sizzling romance under wraps, for a time, until Kit and Riley have to leave for their marine posting to Afghanistan. The story at this point turns, as the reader is left on the edge of both suspense and tears.

Not only does this novel satisfy (ah) on the sensual front, but the plot is an excellent weaving of mystery and heart ache. Alderson knows how to write - she hooks her readers in with action, thrilling but realistic and an incredibly intelligent stream of consciousness. I thoroughly enjoyed the shifting points of views between the two protagonists (it's always interesting to hear both the guy's and the girl's perspective of a hot and sweaty love scene) as it allows for a complete understanding of the characters and the places which they are coming from respectively. I adored these two at the close of the novel.

This story carries the reader. It delivers on all fronts - including emotionally fraught tragedy. I loved this book. Thank you Mila Gray for Jessa and Kit, and thank you for rekindling my love for NA fiction.
