Book Description

Martin Webb April 1, 2007
A new mystery series from a masterful writerFrankie Holt, with her strange newborn doll, is heading for the Malvern Hills and a job looking after the wealthy yet vulnerable Scott sisters. But there are two dark shadows dogging Frankie: her stepsister Shannon, whom she tried to drown two years before, and Londoner Martin Webb, a police force reject who is convinced that he has an instinct for solving crime...

Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

Adopted as a child, Frankie Holt has been abused by her adoptive parents, while the Holts' natural daughter, Shannon, is showered with expensive clothes and gifts. No wonder Frankie is resentful--and determined to find her birth mother. Frustrated by the fruitless search, however, Frankie decides to seek revenge, with her sister, Shannon, just her first target. Only Martin Webb, a young man with dreams of joining the police force, seems to understand that Frankie is a bomb waiting to explode. Taut, dark, and nail-bitingly suspenseful, this story is fiendishly clever and packed full of unexpected twists and turns. Emily Melton
