Book Description

October 1, 2001
In Come & Dine, we find not only recipes for appetizers, soups, salads, breads, main dishes and desserts, we get a dash of humor and wisdom, too. Each recipe is accompanied by quotations of the great thinkers and humorists. Having suffered from the disease and overcome it through a disciplined regimen of exercise, Abigail established the Spasmodic Torticollis Recovery Clinic in hopes of helping others like herself. Her recipes come from the clinic's menus. Now, we don't have to be at Abbie's clinic to eat her great food. Her recipes are all right here, between the covers of Come & Dine.

About the Author

Abigail Brown Collins is a native of Chicago suburb, Glen Ellyn, Illinois, and currently resides in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where she has served as founder and Director of the Spasmodic Torticollis Recovery Clinic, Inc. (S.T.R.C., Inc.) since 1986. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1960 with a B.S. degree in Applied Arts and received her M.A. in Special Education from San Francisco State College in 1964. After teaching the deaf and hard of hearing for eleven years, she retired to marry, raise her two, now-grown sons, Grant and Neil, and spent several years in full-time missionary service. She is a poet and artist as well as a musician. She took both the Editor's Choice Award and a 3rd place in the National Library of Poetry competition, 1997. Her paintings have been exhibited in various states with a one-woman show in San Francisco in 1963. She has played cello with the Santa Fe Jr. Symphony, the Featherwind Quartet and a chamber group. Abbie is currently absorbed with the clinic and spends her rare spare time reading, cooking and relaxing with her retired greyhound, Zoe; mutt, Gus; and cat, Cinder.
