Book Description

October 1997
A noted liturgist, Fragomeni takes on the frequently turgid and lacklustre celebrations of the Mass. He attempts to revive the Mass through a spirited interpretation of the Eucharistic story and offers a central notion by which participants can experience the fullness of the Eucharist -- as an extraordinary gift that is God's Self.

This review is from: Come to the Feast: An Invitation to Eucharistic Transformation (Hardcover)
I really enjoyed this book. As a convert to Catholicism in 1997, I am constantly looking for resources to learn the nuances of each "Catholic thing" that Catholics do. Fr. Fragomeni's book, "Come to the Feast," does just this, and does it so well that what may ordinarily be a "heavy" topic to discuss, becomes extremely easy to read and enjoyable by his many examples and stories. The "Catholic thing" that this book uncovers is the GIFT that God gave us through Christ.

I especially liked one of his stories in his chapter called "Blindness I Have Known." He tells us that at the age of 20, he took a job making $2 a Mass, playing the organ. As God would have it, a 13-year-old came along--the catalyst for a lesson in humility. Oh, how we learn!

This book is a compendium of stories expressing his view of the feast of Eucharist--the gifts we have, the gifts we share, and the gifts we learn to accept.
