Don't Read this Book!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Come Home to Love (Paperback)
I have never been moved to review a book on-line before, but I have to warn any un-suspecting readers. This is probably one of the worse books I have ever read!! I bought the book because I like Joan Hohl and the book has "Joan Hohl" in bold and "writing as..." in small print. I didn't realize that this is really by Amii Lorin. I personally don't think that it could possibly be the same woman. The constant flash backs to the past are annoying and add nothing to the book. The characters are horrible. The leading lady is immature. She supposedly is a grown woman in her 40's with two grown children and yet she can't open her mouth and speak to the man she is married to or his evil sister. She spends no time with her son and sounds like a horrible mother. The leading man's character is never developed and so there is nothing redeeming about him either. The main characters are two people that are stupid, immature and unrealistic! The whole book is just a bad read. It leaves you thinking that the author should give up writing! Wish I could give this one a "no-star" instead of a "one-star" rating.

Ummm. Am I delirious? What in the name of god happened so that this book was published? We've got a wacked-out doormat of a woman who falls in love with a truly frightening man who has obsessed over her for twenty five years. He proposes a "marriage of convenience" when they run into each other again in their forties after knowing each other briefly in high school. And when I say briefly I mean they spoke possibly four sentences to each other when she turned him down for the prom and he cried like a baby whose toy had been taken away. He basically rapes her when they get married, and not in a lusty Scarlett and Rhett sort of way, but a cold and humiliating type of way. All of a sudden she's in love with him (no explanation as to why, except that she's possibly completely insane) and brooding throughout the whole book about their weird, abusive relationship. Which is so disgusting in any normal human's frame of reference that I had to repeatedly put down the book to wonder at what mental illnesses the author must suffer from to think that this was in any way okay.
Unbelievably bad book. No plot and detestable characters. What. The. ****. Why can't we give books 0 stars? Or better yet, negative stars? |
