Margaret Whiting really swings on this one!,
By Lorenz Maycher (Kilgore, Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Come a Little Closer (Audio CD)
Margaret Whiting has always been one of my favorite singers, and this new cd shows she still has it. From the very first track, "You'd Better Love Me", she had me in her spell (I've played this track at least 20 or 30 times for friends just for the pleasure of seeing how it makes them come to life). Her matured voice has the same sweet, sincere quality it has always had, and her musicality and lovely phrasing are intact. She knows what she is doing, and she is having the time of her life, backed by a superb combo that compliments her at every turn. Buy this cd. You won't be disappointed.

Come a Little Closer,

I heard this in a bar in Key West and loved it. One of those "I know who this is but I don't know who this is" - familiar but not. I came home and ordered it immediately so I could listen to it again - it also makes excellent background music when having guests. Everyone wants to know who it is.

A very likeable Whiting recording,

There is a lot to like in this CD. A lot of good songs. Good quality sound. Whiting's voice shows its age a little. But she handles her instrument intelligently. It's one of those CD's I enjoy coming back to.
