Book Description

Angels...Vampyres...Heaven and Hell... In medieval Ireland two worlds collide and the term dark ages takes on a whole new meaning...Come The Night.

In medieval Ireland, an evil entity stalks Lazarus Conlon, Vampyre patriarch, threatening the safety of his wife and his family tribe. But to conquer this enemy, Lazarus must first fight his own demons including a sacred heritage descended of fallen angels. Amid this strife, Lazarus learns his only true hope rests within the heart and soul of a mortal tracker--his wife--a woman born to hunt his breed. Can his evil antagonist be defeated?

Neomina Delacroix is no stranger to the world of the Vampyre. As appointed heiress of the Tracker Council and the keeper of the Amulet of Christ and the St. John Stake, Neomina's allegiance to her people is sealed in blood. But the true nature of her heritage has been kept secret for years, revealed only to her father--Gerard Delacroix--and to her husband--Lazarus Conlon. When terror strikes the Conlon Tribe, Neomina is their only hope. Can her heart outweigh the duties of her soul?

5.0 out of 5 stars Winner of the WordWeaving Award for Excellence, November 1, 2002
This review is from: Come the Night (Paperback)
In an effort to save her infant's existence, Octavia presents her son Lazarus to his grandfather Romulus, pleading that he be made a Vampyre. Lazarus was born the son of an who mated the mortal woman. Legend says that only demons come from the union of a mortal to an angel. Therefore, to prevent her son from becoming one of the damned souls of the Nephilim, Octavia wants him to become one of the immortal. Out of love for his daughter and grandson, Romulus complies before ending his own existence and passing leadership of The Tribe to his grandchild, with his daughter leading in the interim.

Just as the Nephilim once stalked his infant life, so do they now pursue Lazarus. For 600 years he has led The Tribe. They are the New Breed, those who feed on the food and wine of paradise in lieu of blood. He has married a mortal woman, a Tracker sworn to destroy Vampyres named Neomina Delacroix. Prophesy states that from their union will come a savior born to destroy the Dark Breed, those who feed on human flesh. Lazarus' archangel uncle was long ago appointed to search for the soul who would destroy him. But Lazarus does not trust his guardian, believing him to have killed his father. Little do either Lazarus or his archangel uncle suspect their blood tie to the demon that would destroy them all.

Author Angelique Armae pens a groundbreaking mythology regarding vampyre and archangels in COME THE NIGHT. The tale begins in Rome 476 A.D., continuing in Ireland 1095. Christian mythos lends a powerful structure to the tale, including an amulet containing a few drops of Christ's blood and a stake made of the wood of the cross and the silver from the platter that server John the Baptist's Head. A new interpretation of the events in the Garden of Eden provides the existence of the Vampyers and the Nephilim. Such profound theology lends the tale a uniquely original flavor that separates it from the vast market of vampire books. With powerful yet vulnerable characterizations, an intricate plot, and a scintillating voice, Armae presents readers with a novel impossible to put down, and leaves them hungering for the next book of the series. COME THE NIGHT earns the WordWeaving Award for Excellence.

4.0 out of 5 stars Explodes all stereotypes!, April 25, 2003
This review is from: Come the Night (Paperback)
The thing I liked best about Come the Night was how angels and vampires interacted through the ages, and what happens when those worlds collide. The book is exquisitely written. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I, personally, was hoping for more peripheral historical information about what was going on in the world throughout the centuries Come The Night spans, and what it might have been like to live in them. Still, it's a fantastic read!

5.0 out of 5 stars powerful historical vampyric romance, January 7, 2003
This review is from: Come the Night (Paperback)
In 476 Ad near Rome, the desperate widow Octavia introduces her half-breed son Lazerus to his grandfather Romulus the Vampyre. She wants her sire to save his grandson's life for if he refuses Lazerus will join his father a fallen angel in death or become a demon. Reluctantly as he had not done with his mortal daughter, Romulus agrees to convert Lazerus to a life as an undead under the stipulation that he change Octavia too so she can teach him the way of the Nazarene as he has followed. With an heir, a weary Romulus can enter the sun.

In 1095 Ireland Lazerus is married to a tracker Neomina, keeper of sacred holy icons. Lazerus leads his vampyric New Breed, but he knows the prophecy is coming that his grandfather explained to his mother five centuries ago. The demons that destroyed Rome are back to finish the job with the only hope for Lazerus and his tribe to survive let alone win is his wife, but she remains unaware of her power.

COME THE NIGHT is a delightful paranormal romantic thriller that will give immense pleasure to fans of horror, romance, and suspense. Historical tidbits and religious elements enhance the exciting story line. The cast is deep and the key members so developed that angels, vampyres, trackers, and demons seem almost everyday normal though the adventures are not. Angelique Armae provides a powerful vampyric romance that will fully entertain across the genres.
