5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!!!
This is one of the best albums I have heard in awhile and certainly in the running for the best albums of 2007. I liked Son, but this far surpasses it. I for one am glad that TJ left the band because Cody is a much better vocalist. 3.0 out of 5 stars Not As Good
While this album is definitely good on its own, it falls flat in comparison to "Son, I Loved You At Your Darkest." Along with one of their vocalists, ACB has seemingly lost some of the intensity and energy that their original fanbase was based upon.
Tracks like "Empire," "The Hoard," and "This Is It, This Is It" keep the chaotic guitars and high-energy tempo from...

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!!!, September 2, 2007

This is one of the best albums I have heard in awhile and certainly in the running for the best albums of 2007. I liked Son, but this far surpasses it. I for one am glad that TJ left the band because Cody is a much better vocalist. I haven't liked stuff coming out of Tooth and Nail for a while, alot of the bands are very cookie cutter and make me sick but As Cities Burn has set themselves apart from those bands with Come Now Sleep. I especially like the raw sound of the record. My personal favorites are Contact, Empire,The Hoard, and Clouds. The melodies on these songs are absoloutely amazing. Of course the whole album is a must have, just don't expect screaming like in the last album. I think ACB really benefits from not having that element in their music anymore and they make beautiful music without it.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best albums of 2007, January 14, 2008
This review is from: Come Now Sleep (Audio CD)
I was a bit nervous when hearing that As Cities Burn was going to continue the band, but go in more of an indie direction. Of course it is almost a new bands with TJ being gone, but they have progressed in a positive way, more than any other band I have ever listened to. If you are so stuck on one genre such as screamo or hardcore, this may not be for you. However, if you really respect these hardworking, and talented musicians...there is definitely something in it for you. I recently saw these guys in St. Louis and me and my sister were going through a hard time...I talked to Cody before they went on, and asked him if they would play "The Widow" from their previous album, and he said they had only planned on playing songs from "Come Now Sleep" in order to promote, but he would talk to the guys and see if they would want to. They played it at the end of their set, and dedicated it to us, this is a band that really cares about their fans, and to hear Cody when he sings his lyrics you can tell he means it. This is truly one of the best bands I have ever heard, heavy or not...they are amazing. If you don't have any of their music, do yourself a favor and buy everything you can by them.

5.0 out of 5 stars "The new As Cities Burn will blow your mind.., November 7, 2007
This review is from: Come Now Sleep (Audio CD)
..and if it doesn't, theres a good chance you don't have one."

I sat staring at my computer screen for a good ten minutes simply because I could not think of the right words to describe this cd. I did however, think of a single word to describe it: "real". This is something As Cities Burn is gifted with.

While this album is completely different from their previous album, it is still equally as powerful. The lyrics are deep and perplexing, the instrumentation is tight yet dissonant, the vocals are honest and real. Theres no question that As Cities Burn has in fact changed (alot) but the thoughts and emotions in their music remain.

A nice addition to this album are the beautiful ambient keyboards added by the glorious, Matt Goldman; producer.

All in all, an awesome cd that truly shined through in 07

4.0 out of 5 stars Funny, I thought they were atheist when I first heard them, December 27, 2007

I heard of them in September/October, when the band Dredg came and played at The Great American Music Hall in SF. As Cities Burn opened for them, and I liked their energy and lyrics so I bought their cd at the concert for $5.00. I can relate to some of their lyrics, but holy crap I thought they were atheist at first. W/e, still good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Different doesn't mean bad., August 14, 2007
This review is from: Come Now Sleep (Audio CD)
It is completely different from Son, I Loved... but dear God amazing in its own right. When I first listened it reminded me of a little Brand New, espically The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me. So yeah, if you like As Cities Burn, and or good music, get this soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazingly Good CD, April 9, 2010
This review is from: Come Now Sleep (Audio CD)
I have seen people review every song on an album before and I have never tried it but I believe it would be good for people new to this band so here goes:

1.Contact - This is probably my favorite song on the album. It is so calming in the beginning. The lyrics are amazing. To me, I think it relates to the Devil's lies and how sin blocks out god from our lives and makes us blind to him.
2.Empire - If I remember correctly this is the first song I have heard from ACB. I thought it was awesome, and it was their hit song so I am sure you've heard of it. It's a great tune with a good beat.
3.The Hoard - I recently placed this song as my most disliked. I am retracting that because I do in fact like it a lot. The chorus is awesome.
4.This is it, This is it - I think this is the reason why I bought this song because I heard so many live performances of this song and I loved it. Good beat and good lyrics.
5.Clouds - This is just an instrumental song that is interviewing people on who they think God is. It is a pretty cool song. Probably the worst on the album though. By no means is it bad.
6.New Sun - I think this song is about how each day is a new day and chance for a fresh start.
7.Tides - This is my second favorite song and comes close to first, but I still like Contact a little better because of the tone of the song. I love the chorus of this song, OCEANNNN TIDESS MOVEE. It sounds so awesome.
8.Wrong Body - This song is my second disliked song. I think it is just too depressing of a song. I think it explains how he thinks he's in the wrong body and is asking for forgiveness. Still a great song.
9.Our World is Grey - This song is about how sin is covering our world, and how God never lets us go. Good song I think.
10.Timothy - I read this song was about their friend who wasn't saved and ended his life. I think it comes from his perspective on God and how he lived. The front cover on the back says this album is dedicated to him, so I am positive this song is reflecting him. By the way this song is 12 minutes long so it's pretty long. Overall a great song though.

So this was my first in-depth review of an album because the first time I listened to this album through I thought it was amazing and I am so glad I made the decision to get it. I thought ACB was a really hardcore christian band like Underoath with only a few slow songs, but they mix the slow songs with hardcore which I like the best. Kinda like underoath does in some of their songs which is why I liked them, but most of their songs had all screaming with no recognition of the lyrics which I didn't like. So if you like songs like the new underoath song that sings "It's Dangerous Business Walking out your Front Door" and "Too Bright to See, Too Loud to Hear" you will probably like this album a lot. This album touches on a lot of sensetive issues on the Christian life as well which makes it interesting.

4.0 out of 5 stars A well-crafted work..., March 22, 2008
This review is from: Come Now Sleep (Audio CD)
For previous fans of As Cities Burn... you will be in for a surprise. Much has changed. Much of the screaming the group is known for is no longer in existence. However, in it's place is something amazing. Empire and This Is It are definitely tracks to check out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Suprisingly Refreshing, February 29, 2008
This review is from: Come Now Sleep (Audio CD)
Typically bands in the realm of hardcore and metal try to get more brutal every time. As Cities Burn did the complete opposite, and for their nose-thumbing they were able to do something that bands do not often do, which is survive a huge lineup upheaval and still make records (see Further Seems Forever.) I was reluctant to get this CD because I had heard the demos, and I really loved "Son, I Loved You at Your Darkest," as an honest, and very crushing hardcore album. "Come Now Sleep" however allured me with it's opening track which used very simple melody and poignant lyrics to drive home a sea-change in the very core of As Cities Burn. The message has not changed; but the media has. It, however, has worked very well to embrace the change. Lyrically and musically this is an all around surprising and refreshing album.

Reminiscent of the pre-Emo bands that drove the genre into the spotlight, without the lack of earnesty.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing., December 1, 2007
This review is from: Come Now Sleep (Audio CD)
This album reminds me of a mix between Brand New's "The Devil and God" and mewithYou's "Brother, Sister". Amazing album, very well-done vocals. Complex and deep. Only takes you one listen to get into it.
