5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Christmas
Judy Collins' "Come Rejoice" album is a classic. This was rated as one of the best in 1994, the year it came out. I will still rate it as the best along with Christmas at the Biltmore Estate. The songs on Come Rejoice will fill you with the Christmas spirit and hope. Judy's classical music training and beautiful, powerful songwriting is outstanding. Enjoy...

3.0 out of 5 stars just so-so
I've been a Judy Collins fan since the 60's. I was hoping for more songs in the folk style that I remember. "Song of Sarajevo" is thoroughly enjoyable, as is "Cherry Tree Carol", and "Little Road to Bethlehem". I noticed that her voice is strained on some of the high notes. The quality of the audio sound is just so-so. The sound is a...

Anyone who doubts how terrific Judy Collins still is after all these years should listen to this wonderful Christmas album she produces in the mid 1990s. She is in full voice here, and if you are familiar with her amazing range, you can appreciate how well that vehicle can deal with the traditional Christmas music included in this album. She is nothing if not the consummate interpreter of other's music. We can hear her magical touch as she glides through a number of standards such as "Away In A Manger", Joy To The World", and "Silent Night". She is also very good with a number of contemporary seasonal tunes like "I'll Be Home For Christmas", "Let It Snow:, and of course, her own unforgettable version of "Amazing Grace". If you want a classic treatment of a number of traditional and contemporary Christmas music delivered with the voice of our own special angel, you will really enjoy this terrific recent Christmas album by Judy Collins. Peace!

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Judy Collins, December 8, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Come Rejoice!: A Judy Collins Christmas (Audio CD)
I bought this album during the mid 90s and it's still one of my favorite Christmas albums. The arrangements of familiar songs make them seem new and the new songs, especially the ones written by Judy, quickly become familiar. Among my favorites are the title song and "Song for Sarajevo," both written by Judy. Unfortunately, "Song for Sarajevo," about the effects of war on children is once again relevant. It brings chills to my spine every time I listen to it. My favorite of the familiar songs is "Let It Snow." The arrangement on this album is the best I've ever heard.

If you're a Judy Collins fan, this album and "Christmas at the Biltmore Estate" (which has some of the same songs but is a live album with introductions to all the songs by Judy) are essentials. You can hear in her voice how much she enjoys singing these songs and the enjoyment carries over to the listener.

5.0 out of 5 stars A purely beautiful CD from a beautiful lady, December 13, 2002
This review is from: Come Rejoice!: A Judy Collins Christmas (Audio CD)
A large part of the beauty of a Judy Collins CD is the fact that there is so little accompaniment and the emphasis therefore is on her voice. Most of the numbers here are accompanied only by piano or keyboards, and backup singers, and of course, the concluding "Amazing Grace" is Acapella.

There's a good balance here between the spiritual and the secular, both being beautifully delivered by Judy. And there are just enough less familiar songs here to keep us interested" "Song for Sarajevo", Cherry Tree Carol, "All on a Wintry Night", "Come Rejoice" and "Christmas Carol".

Very enthusiastically recommended by this guy!

The sound is a little muddy and the stereo separation is not very good. It's not terrible music, just not great. I probably would have bought it anyway after reading a bad review, because I love her voice so much. I do not personally recommend this CD, although I noticed that several other people have enjoyed it.
