5.0 out of 5 stars A Word from the Producer, July 10, 2002
By
This review is from: Come Together: An A Cappella Tribute to the Beatles (Audio CD)
Since I pulled this compilation together, I thought I'd add a bit of relevant information. This all-vocal tribute includes at least one song from each of the 13 major Beatles LPs, sequenced chronologically by LP release date. Four new tracks were recorded exclusively for this compilation in order to span all of the Beatles' LPs: "All I've Got To Do" by Toxic Audio (Orlando-based, ex of Disney World); "Eight Days A Week" by m-pact (Seattle-based, former Billboard Unsigned Artist winner); "Tomorrow Never Knows" by Five O'Clock Shadow (Boston-based, finalist on VH-1's //breakthrough); and "All You Need Is Love" by The House Jacks (San Francisco-based, formerly on Tommy Boy Records). Oh, and track 5 is by London-based The Swingle Singers (former Grammy winners, New Artist of the Year). The cover art, entitled "The Beatles Forever" was commissioned from noted artist Peter Bollinger.

If you're not familiar with contemporary a cappella and the advances in vocal percussion, you may not think this is all-vocal... but it is. The album is currently getting airplay on more than 100 AAA and college radio stations in the U.S. I hope you enjoy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great, creative collection that amazes everyone, December 15, 2002

This review is from: Come Together: An A Cappella Tribute to the Beatles (Audio CD)
A die-hard m-pact fan from the beginning, I picked up this CD at one of their concerts. Besides their "eight days" version, nearly every track makes me happy. The CD is inspiration to all a cappella singers and musicians out there - it reminded me of the years spent (which I miss) arranging and singing a cappella in college! Appropriately, the Beelzebubs have a chance on this compilation to strut thier talent with the professionals.

The Bobs' "Strawberry Fields Forever" is spectacular in its simplicity - especially compared to the amazing, yet highly produced, numbers from Toxic Audio, Cadence, and five o'clock shadow.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Awesome, July 24, 2002
This review is from: Come Together: An A Cappella Tribute to the Beatles (Audio CD)
This complilation is nothing less than awesome. It's a great mix of several modern a cappella styles by some of the best professional and collegiate groups around today. I could listen to "I am the Walrus" by the Tufts Beelzebubs all day.

This would be a great first album to pick up if you think you're interested in modern a cappella, and you're a Beatles fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Acappella CD Worth Having in Your Collection, July 11, 2002

This review is from: Come Together: An A Cappella Tribute to the Beatles (Audio CD)
One word for this CD... AMAZING. The Toxic Audio version of "All I've Got To Do" alone is well worth owning this CD. But this CD also includes Kickshaw's "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, and SpiralMouth's "Come Together." All the cuts are well produced interpretations of the original songs. I made the mistake of lending the CD to a friend.... 6 months later I still can't get it back. I recommend buying it and NOT lending it to anyone. You'll never see it again.
