Deeper music, deeper meanings,
By tal3323 (Auburn, AL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Come Together (Audio CD)
Third Day has been one of my favorite groups ever since their first album. In all of their songs the tracks that have affected me most have been songs like Thief, Just To Be With You, Your Love Endures Forever, King of Glory, and Agnus Dei. There are many more songs that I like but those listed above seem to have the deepest hold on me because of the meaning in the songs and because the songs aren't so heavy into rock and roll that some of the clarity is lost. Some of Third Day's other songs sound great but are tough to understand and I find that the easiest songs of theirs to understand fall under a praise and worship style of presentation. That's why I think Come Together is their best work to date. They mix outstanding clear lyrics with some amazing musical compilations to make a great sounding album with some amazing lyrics. There's not a single song I don't like on this album and I praise the Lord for what He's done with Mac Powell and the band. These men love Jesus and it shows in their music.

Another incredible album from Third Day,

When I pre-ordered this album, I didn't know quite what to expect. I absolutely loved Time and Offerings, and they are two of my most listened-to CD's. Somehow I couldn't imagine that Third Day could make something up to that level again. And yet, not only did they create an equal in Come Together, they have gone beyond their previous releases in many ways. Third Day now has a very mature rock style. They have come such a long way since their first CD. It seems as if all the stuff they have learned along the way, every improvement they have made, has come together (no pun intended) on this album. It is truly their most refined album yet. Every song can stand on its own. I think each one has been in my head at some point. There is a great combination of rock songs (like Get On and Come Together), and beautiful slower songs (like Show Me Your Glory and It's Alright). Come Together is the work of a truly incredible band that is continuing to make excellent music. Each release they have in some way surpasses the previous ones. Come Together is an awesome album that you will surely enjoy. It has a life of its own, yet it builds perfectly on Third Day's previous work. It is because of this that I highly recommend Come Together, and give it an enthusiastic 5 stars!

Right on...again,
This review is from: Come Together (Audio CD)
I have to say, I didn't quite know how Third Day would return after Time and the incredible Offerings CD. However, they once again came through to deliver another excellent CD! I immediately loved the song "Nothing Compares", my personal favorite. It has such a friendly yet almost wistful feeling to it. Its the kind of song that would sound best when your driving through a lonely desert...something about it is nostalgic. "When the Rain Comes" is also a beautiful song (with great guitar), while "I Got You" is more of a classic rock-on type of song. "Come Together" is a fun one too. A few of the songs do sound rather 'familiar', but I'm sure old Third Day fans will like this. All in all, a strong, solid disc, one that I trust will go far. Pick it up today! :)

A review that definitely comes from "My heart",

I got the new CD the first day it came out wondering how it would compare with the other CD's. I am a big fan of the group and enjoy songs off of all the CD's. This one definitely has a different sound, but I can just tell you if you'll go ahead and get it you've not wasted your money...just listen to #3 Show me Your Glory, #5 My Heart, #8 I Got You, #10 When the Rain Comes(probably my favorite), and #12 Nothing Compares. The day I got the CD I let all my friends hear it and many of them went and bought it that day. The main song I would play for them was "When the Rain Comes"...that song is a song of comfort which has already ministered to my heart. Oh yeah speaking of my heart....the song "My heart" is a good one if you wanna just walk through a mall or somewhere and dance aka get your groove on. It's a great CD! Well...that's all I have to say about that. Thanks for taking the time to read my thoughts on the CD.

great songs, great disc,

Following the seemingly universal proclivity among their "Christian" contemporaries, Third Day released Offerings--their two cents worth of worship music. Who would have thought that two cents could stretch this far? (Offerings was actually one heck of an album--though it pales compared to this disc.) So now we have Third Day's latest: Come Together. Come Together is, hands down, the best album Third Day has ever made. There are no weak songs on this disc. More than half of what is here moves above great music, into the realm of excellence: -The title track speaks of the possibilities that a world united in love presents. More encouragingly, it points out that such a dream is not "pie in the sky." It is certain to come true. -My favorite song, 40 days, contains the wonderful chorus: "It's been forty days and forty nights, down the road of many trials, and I pray its only for a season. 'Cause in the wilderness and in the flood, you're the one I'm thinking of 'cause I know you've bought me for a reason." -Show Me Your Glory is the most beautiful song on the disc. It speaks of an encounter with God that not only moves, but brings life change. -My Heart is a bit different for Third Day, if it had an acoustic guitar it might be something you'd here from a more folksy band like Caedmon's Call. All the same it is a great song about waiting for God. -Its Alright is a very penetrating ballad--also about waiting (a theme on this disc). -I Don't Know is one heck of a song of repentance. I love the words: "All my life has led to this decision--to return and ask you this one thing: If I had one chance or if a million, would it ever be enough for me, to explain what I've done? Now I know that I was wrong. Will you hold me again?" -When the Rain the Comes, next to Show Me Your Glory, is the prettiest song on the CD. It would be THE single on most other recordings. -The final track, Nothing Compares, continues Third Day's killer streak of discs with great last songs. Rising above the endless stream of "worship" CDs put out in the last two years, Third Day has made a cogent, powerful piece of art that will stand the test of time. I give Come Together my full recommendation.

Another great effort from the Marietta boys,
This review is from: Come Together (Audio CD)
When I first heard the opening notes of "Come Together," with it's programming heavy intro, I began to wonder whether Third Day really was going back to the Southern Rock sounds that have made them so uniquely excellent among Christian Rock, but I discovered that on this new record, Third Day does stay true to their roots. The title track, a call to unity, roars out of the box with a memorable sound. "40 Days" and "Get On" continue to fulfill the expectations of long time Third Day fans. As is expected with Third Day, especially following "Offerings," there are some fine worship songs here, beginning with the first single "Show Me Your Glory," and continuing with the closing cuts "Sing Praises" and "Nothing Compares." There are a few surprises as well. "My Heart" and "I Got You" blend in some more modern sounds, the latter reminding me a bit of Incubus, while "Still Listening," my personal favorite, rocks with a little bit of a swagger, like the Rolling Stones or Lynyrd Skynyrd. My only quibble with "Come Together" is the pacing; three of the first four cuts are blistering rockers, while the last third of the album is extremely ballad heavy. But all told, I'm continually proud of the boys from my hometown, especially on this great new record.

Third Day is the Best!,
By Jessica Kaminskie (Cleveland, OH United States) - See all my reviews

I just went to see Third Day in concert on April 11. They are great! This CD is so good! I love the song that goes, "I said get on, get on, get away from me if you're trying to bring me down." That has been my theme song for the past week or so. It is hard living a Christian life when your family and friends around you are not Christians. This whole CD just gives me the strength of knowing that God is with me always and that no life is worth living unless you know Jesus Christ as your personal savior! Praise the Lord!

Third Day simply does not disappoint and I've gotta say, they are quickly becoming my favorite musical group of all time.Every single track on this disc is worthy of air-play as a single. I can listen to this entire disc beginning to end over and over again in my car and I never tire of it. Lyrics that make you think and melodies that rock and soothe at the same time. If this group got airplay on mainstream stations, it would quickly go Platinum. If you only know of a few tracks from Third Day that you've heard on the radio, you won't be disappointed with this disc... all of the songs are of the same calibre as their well-known hits. Buy this disc - it ROCKS!
