The way videos should be....,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Come to Viddy [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Why, oh why aren't there more videos like these on MTV? The three videos on this tape are perfect examples of how sound and vision can work together seamlessly. "Come to Daddy" is, by far, one of the most intruiging and creative videos I've seen. It really should be considered more like a short film than a mere video. It's probably not for everyone, due to its disturbing nature, but definitely deserves at least one viewing. The other videos, for "On" and "Donkey Rhubarb", are also wonderfully mesmerizing. Richard James is just what our massed-produced music industry needs...an imaginative and fiendishly creative force to be reckoned with!!

come to daddy.........the most scariest video on film,
By A Customer
This review is from: Come to Viddy [VHS] (VHS Tape)
this is probably the most scariest thing ever on film, yes its that disturbing!, its the most bizarre scariest nightmare in 5 mintutes and definatly the scariest music video along with the scariest song or music i've ever heard. The Face screaming "I want your soul!" makes it seem like it is refering to the viewer/you which gives the viewer an isolated helpless feeling of fear when watching this video.Let's hope director chris cunningham will film the scariest movie ever one day, The exorcist doesn't or even any scary movie comes close to the horror of come to daddy. watch this video in the dark, late at night alone if you dare as i have! but be prepared for a shock so don't say i didn't warn you....

I want your soul...,

This movie was very good. On was very cool. my only gripe with it was that there was too much going on. Donkey Rhubarb was, um..., well it was there. The bear doing the pelvic thrusts was interesting... Then there's Come to Daddy. This is freaky. I don't have midget phobias yet, but I've only watched it once. Give me time.

A more visual journey into RDJ's head,

This is a very nice vid. Three of Aphex's music videos are included: On, Donkey Rhubarb, and Come To Daddy (director's cut). The On video is, as of now, my personal favorite. It's like poetry without words; the first segment shows acts of nature dancing in harmony in synch with the pianos--drops of water in a pond, rain, erosion, thunder, tidal forces. The noisy instruments kick in as inanimate objects come to life on a beach via stop-motion animation, done in a very artsy style. Robert Frost is dancing with joy in his grave! Donkey Rhubarb is just silly and fun. Three Bears meet the Teletubbies, fighting, playing, dancing with a crowd of children, jogging, breakdancing, etc. Come to Daddy, director's cut, is a change of pace and mood by drastic means. It won several awards in Europe, I believe; yet here, it was banned from MTV when they had that stupid show where trendy bastards would vote on what videos stay and what videos be banned, whining about how Come to Daddy is scary, boo-hoo... Well, it *is* a haunting and disturbing video, but that also goes to show people wouldnt know good music if it slapped them across the face with a 2x4. I think from watching Come to Daddy I've developed some phobia of midgets. All in all, I'm giving this video a 4, because I'm quite angry about the length. There was plenty of room left for them to include the videos for "Ventolin" and "Girl/Boy" (I dont think this tape runs for more than 20 minutes!), as low-budget as those videos may seem compared to the ones that _were_ included. Such a pity. Nonetheless this video is worth getting, for any Aphex-phile.

Brilliant, but disturbing,

This review is from: Come to Viddy [VHS] (VHS Tape)
All three of the videos are gorgeous. They are each beautifully directed and are individual pieces of art in their own right. The three videos are substantially different in art direction and mood, yet they all are consistently disturbing. Although I will applaud the artistic merit of this work...

this video makes the exorcist seem down right cheerful. it is very disturbing; there is a scene at the end whereby a tall, humanoid? thing walks around, emaciated, weighing maybe sixty pounds. it looks famished; this can't be a puppet, can it? where does this actor/thing? live? what a wicked video. will make you cry and run home to daddy.
