A Good Guide to Kings & Chronicles for all Denominations, January 8, 2004
This review is from: Come Walk in My Ways: 1 & 2 Kings/2 Chronicles (New Inductive Study) (Paperback)
Everyone in my weekly bible study appreciates this book.
We come from different denominations -- Catholic, Weslyan, Lutheran and Messianic Jewish. None of us were well versed with Kings and Chronicles when we started this book 2 years ago.
This is book helped us understand what Kings and Chronicles are about from a who/what/where/when point of view as well as integrated with other key points of scripture.
We also liked the Inductive Process. Using colored pencils is fun and easy, and helped us keep track of the personalities in each chapter.
We no longer shy away from pronoucing names like Jeroboam or Rehoboam. We know now who the kings were, what their lineages were, as well as their personal attributes. We are more familiar with the geography of Israel, Syria, and Iraq.
The study guide uses scripture from other parts of the Bible to explain key portions of Kings & Chronicles.
We used the book slowly, covering a single day each week. Each section took about 30-60 minutes to prepare for. Now that we have finished we are moving onto to Teach Me Your Ways by Kay Arthur...why not? We've already invested in color pencils!
