Children of the Day's "Come to the Waters" album,
By Roger E. Lau (Wellington, OH United States) - See all my reviews

This review is from: Come To The Waters (Audio CD)
A beautiful and heart-lifting album, seminal in the annals of the Jesus Movement music, the title song (also known as "For Those Tears I Died") alone is worth the price of admission. The quartet is far more folksy in style than what might be thought of as "Jesus Rock." You can see the song performed live on YouTube by searching "Children of the Day" (include the quotes in your search). Hearing the simple, sincere and moving lyrics, sung by four young Christians barely out of their teens, with Marsha's beautiful voice leading, still brings tears to my eyes. And it is her voice, and the passion she expresses with it, that makes these songs so special and moving. The music of Children of the Day is almost impossible to find. Several of their other albums seem non-existent. This could be due to the fact that Marsha underwent a divorce and embraced a lesbian lifestyle later on (yet is still unshaken in her faith in Christ). Nonetheless, this album still expresses a love for Christ that is still real and palpable, and worth having.

Nostalgic Jesus Movement Classic,

This review is from: Come To The Waters (Audio CD)
If you were saved during the Jesus Movement of the 70's, you probably had this classic album. This started it all and is what contemprary christian music was all about. Pleasing the Master and Savior, and not the producers, or the secular world. Having a clear message of the gospel and not diluted dual interpretation message for commercial gain. Here is about the cross, the blood, and the power of God into salvation, nothing more, nothing less.

Takes me back to a time long ago when Calvary was just a tent...It's amazing they have this on CD now.
