In 1999, I lost my car due to flooding from Hurricane Floyd. This tape, among others, was in my car at the time. This is the only one that I felt that I HAD to replace. Eddie Murphy is amazing. These are the jokes that made him stand out from his fellow comedians. This is the perfect comedy CD. As always, this is an Eddie Murphy CD and there will be plenty of profanity. If this offends you, please don't by this CD. The rest of us don't want to hear you complaining. We're too busy laughing.

I Love it!,

I love this album. I've listened to it dozens of times since I first bought it on vinyl. The observations are so true and the jokes are so funny, and they just build on each other. Listen from the "Ice Cream" track to the end of "The Barbecue" - you'll fall over laughing.

Classic example of 80's standup comedy,
By
This review is from: Comedian (Audio CD)
This album is a classic 80's comedy album. For those of you who have seen Delirious a lot of the main stuff from that video is on this CD. The Mr T material is of course classic as is the Mick Jagger description. This album does have a substantial amount of swearing which may offend some people and you shouldn't buy this album by mistake if you're looking for something for the kiddies because they like Donkee from Shrek or Eddie Murphy in the Nutty Professor. The swearing isn't just mindless though it does fit the comedy. A lot of the comedy is rather dated but it does reflect the times of the 80's. The Aids stuff especially related to the fear and unknown aspects of the disease at the time. I found it interesting his description of Michael Jackson which reflects what the king of pop was like in the early 80's. There's a fair bit of prejudice jokes against homosexuals, women and other races but if you can overlook that those jokes are pretty funny. On this album Eddie tells about why he became a comedian, his childhood and other hilarious stuff. Some of the gags are obviously visual which is a bit stupid. It's not as funny as his earlier self titled one but it's still worth listening to.

Murphy's Best Comedy Album,
By Hillari Hunter "Westside Tomboy" (Chicago, IL United States) - See all my reviews

This is screamingly funny from start to finish (and very politically incorrect). The best routine is a long story about a barbecue that took place when Murphy was seven years old. Murphy also does excellent imitations of Jackie Gleason, Art Carney, Desi Arnez, James Brown and Elvis Presley (singing: "Lemonade. . .that cool refreshing drink!"). Absolutely great stuff.

For those looking, this IS the HBO "Delirious" concert set,

Just wanted to clarify that for anyone looking for Eddie Murphy's very first HBO special "Delirious", this is it (the audio anyway). I'm not positive its that _exact_ night (him using a fan's camera to take a picture of his crotch isn't on this CD) but it _is_ the Delirious comedy routine. Its all here, gay Ralph Kramden & Ed Norton, gay Mr.T, Ricky "Its just so rediiiculous" Ricardo etc.
This is Eddie Murphy's first and finest routine. None of his later specials or even any of his films ever surpassed this stand-up set.

Eddie Murphy Comedian is a great comedy album. I am very picky about these things, and most comedy albums that have come out in the past 15 years have stunk. While I think this Cd is not quite up to Eddie's debut release, don't let that stop you from buying it. If I could, I'd give it 4.9 stars.

The above title is from "The Barbecue", one of the skits on this album/cassette/cd, and definitely one of the best comedy skits of all time. I never get tired of this. I have the cassette version and the vinyl LP version, and both are great. My favorites (I like them all) are the following skits : "Faggots Revisted/Sexual Prime", "Singers", "Ice Cream Man/Shoe-Throwin' Mothers", and, of course, "The Barbecue". I think most of these skits (or maybe all of them) can be found in the Eddie Murphy concert movie "Delirious". It is highly recommended!

A comedy classic,
This review is from: Comedian (Audio CD)
This album is a comedy classic. A must for any comedy collection. I've listened to this album, over 100 times, and it's still funny. Murphy's "Cook-out" bit is arguably the funniest bit of all time. I mention this album in the same breath as Richard Pryor's "Bicentennial Nigger", and Robert Schimmel's "Comes Clean". If you like to laugh, don't hesitate, buy this NOW!

This is the audio track of the classic "Delirious" standup. I nearly busted a gut laughing. If you can't watch it, at least you can listen to it!
