Jackie "Moms" Mabley had the talent and the skill of a polished comedienne and this CD proves it. When I review a CD I ordinarily discuss the details of some of the tracks on the CD. In this case, however, I cannot give away the jokes with a detailed description of the tracks on this CD. I still want, of course, to give you an idea of what to expect if you buy this CD.

Jackie "Moms" Mabley possesses enough energy on these tracks to light up an entire city! She engages the audience and she holds their attention well; they laugh their heads off as she cracks one joke after another. Mabley uses different scenarios as the backdrop for her jokes; we get scenes from a wide variety of places including her supposed wedding to an old man, air plane trips and her discussions with Eisenhower and others on the lawn of The White House.

Unfortunately, however, the recording quality is poor and these tracks are merely excerpts from Jackie's performances. As I listened to this CD twice over I had to conclude that at least some of this 37 minute album was recorded from the audience. What a disappointment! Some of her jokes are dated but others stand the test of time very well.

Although I give this CD four stars I think 3.5 stars would be a more realistic rating for this comedy CD. The poor quality of the sound and the dated jokes irk me.

But please don't get me wrong: I admire Jackie "Moms" Mabley greatly for the hard work she does on this CD. She knows what to say to get her audiences to laugh. I believe most of this was recorded in the 1960s.

I recommend this CD for fans of "Moms" Mabley; and people who enjoy comedy will like this CD, too.

This CD took me back to old times when Moms was alive. Very funny and I listened to it many times. She made me hurt I laughed so hard. Even my daughter (20) loves to listen to it.

When I was a small kid, I remember my parents and other relatives sneaking around playing Moms Mabley and other "X Rated" comics, because of the subject content and language. It is so funny now, because its all so...."out there" now! It brought back childhood memories and she was so funny then and still funny today! I love having this CD!

This CD is Mom's Mabely at her best. It is hilarious. My father-in-law requested it because she isn't doing any cursing! He loves it!

I was glad I was able to find the cd's they came quick.Moms Mabley, was a women my mom live by with some of her knowledge of life. And could recite it and sound just like her and can bring it across with a smile for you to understand where she was coming from. Now that my mom is older we can still appreciate her comedy.

Mom's Mabley is an old school favorite - I regret not purchasing a DVD to see her in action - she is hard to understand on CD, particulary with the sound being not as advance back then as our technology is today. However, would recommend due to being a collector's item.

Comedy aint pretty, but it sure is funny when it's spit by Moms Mabley. Raunchy for her time and very funny.

Moms name came up and I just had to have a cd.
I was not disappointed.

Rather enjoyed this purchase; a very short CD, but a nice addition to my collection!

I had to sneak when my father use to listen to her off the wall comedy. Now I got my own.
