In "Comes The End," author William Creed offers this original version of the Last Days. Thankfully, this is not another slant on the Omega Code or the DaVinci Code. The message is gentle, not preachy, so non-Christians will still enjoy this book. I must admit I rolled my eyes when the word "alien" popped up, but Creed makes it work. (I'm not a Sci-Fi fan so that says something!)
Although this book is compared to "Left Behind," I found the two in no way similar. The plot of "Comes The End" gets right down to business without much filler. It makes for a good, fast read. Creed renders settings well; the story is easy to picture. Having felt that LaHaye downplayed the catastrophic events of the Rapture in "Left Behind," I appreciate that Creed doesn't pull punches in executing these dramatic events.

I purchased "Comes The End" after meeting the author, William Creed, at a local bookstore. He told me a little about the story and showed me the Amazon.com reviews. His writing style had me engaged right away. The story moves very quickly with great detail to the character's personalities. There are more than a few Biblical references that really got my attention!

After having read most of the Left Behind series; this book was great with a different twist and, not as long to read through it. I enjoyed it tremendously and, am anxious to red the rest of the series.

Great for either the Sci-Fi fan or The Left Behind series.

My father and I are avid readers, both of us love Christian Sci-Fi and End Times series. It was my father who found this series and bought it for our Kindles, however as he read it he would say "the story is interesting but if you read it be prepared for terrible grammatical errors-it's enough to make you want to scream". So, I decided to read it and at the moment I am 75% into the story. While it is a decent plot the man doesn't know anything about editing! I don't understand how he has so many good reviews, maybe they got a different copy than I did but it seems like I am constantly having to piece together what he is trying to say! At one point early on TJ forgets his own wife's name! (Her name was established as "Sarah" but at one point he refers to her as "Anna" but then goes back to calling her Sarah) At this point I'm only reading it because I'm stubborn and want to see how it ends...it is so frustrating that the author was either deluded in his own writing to think he was above such things as proof-reading or what's just as bad...letting people buy the rough draft under the guise of it being the final product! It got to the point where I was reading aloud some of the sentences to my mother as a way to vent and she actually declared there was no way she could read it, that it would drive her crazy.

I like a good mystery, but the mystery shouldn't include guessing what the author is trying to say!

Here is just a taste of what you're in for:

"He didn't like uncertainty, and these new feelings brought along with them an unsure feeling about himself and his future. He was not, by nature, and adventuresome soul-yet this was an unknown adventure he was beginning."

"But it wasn't only the unknown future that plagued him, there was something else-or someone else: Stephanie. She was complicated, perhaps too complicated for him to understand. At one time, she was laughing and playful, with a sharp sense of humor. Others times she was, quiet, serene, lost within her thoughts. At one time she would appear as a vulnerable small girl in some ways, yet in another, the Navy Officer: aloof, analytical, commanding."

I think it would be a great book if someone had thought to read through it before putting it on the market!

Book was good, but the profanity it contained took away from it. I don't feel profanity should be contained in a Christian book. Cannot recommend this book because of it. There are many great books out there that does not contain profanity. The author could have easily written, Sarah was called a vile name instead of using the actual word.

I am a little over half-way through this book, and I continue reading due to a good plot. Of course, we who read Christian Fiction know how the story ends; the writer simply has a very unique presentation. However, it really is a slog to get through the book because the editing is so horrendous. The grammar (punctuation, run-ons, etc.) make one have to re-read sections in order to -- one hopes -- get to the real meaning. How one tells when Character A ends speaking and Character B begins speaking can sometimes be disorienting as well. Also, time is not clearly conveyed. A few times, the time-sequence caught me off-guard -- I am reading a section, and all of the sudden the time referenced is a few weeks (or months, in one instance) down the road. Spacing on the page doesn't leave any clues for any of the weaknesses, either. One oddity that particularly caused my reading-eyes to halt (and yielded a bit of a chuckle) was this: The use of the word "A?" for "Eh?" (As in "What's up, A?" versus "What's up, eh?") This was a phonetic rendering of an utterance rather than the common rendering of that utterance. In all, though the writer has a terrific sense of plot-line (so far), the editing leaves so much to be desired that reading really can be difficult. I'd give it 5 stars based on the tale; I'd give it 2 stars based on the dire need of an editor. If you're uncaring of grammar and the usual cues offered to a poor reader, then READ THIS BOOK. If, though, you like the pace to flow without mental interruptions from all of the above, I'd be cautious in perusing this book.

Unfortunately, this genre is full of amateurish efforts. The three books in this series are no different. Poor editing, bad grammar, unrealistic world building. Come on....if huge objects were heading for the earth, the population would be in mass panic. In this author's world, everyone seems calmly waiting to see what the objects are. I was hopeful that these books would hold my attention......nope.

If you enjoyed the Left Behind series, you'll thouroughly enjoy "Comes the End." I met the author at the FT Campbell PX during the 2004 holiday season. I read the review sheet he handed me as I shopped. I bought the novel and read it in just a few days. Having already read the LEFT BEHIND series, it was nice to see an end of days novel that took a fresh spin/take on the subject. Too many forms of media on the subject (film, novel, television) have rehashed the same end of days story. Not so here. It is a unique story, plausible in every detail. Beautifully written, enticing characters, and a fresh approach. My only regret is in the wait for the next novel. However, I will in fact wait to see how this stroy progresses.

I couldn't wade through all the garbage "alien" theories to find any thing remotely resembling a Christian book. I do NOT recommend this book to anyone and will tell them NOT to waste their time or money. Disappointed.

Great thriller, fast paced. Once I started, could not put book down. Highly recommend for everyone to read. The insight the author weaves into the story line is very thought provoking and commendable.
