I had ordered a Royal Machines 112MX 12-Sheet Cross Cut Shredder and returned it because it died under 3 weeks. I was going to exchange it for a new one but decided to look around for another brand. I didn't want to take a chance with the same experience on the Royal shredder. So I bought the Comet CM-C12CD since it had the features I was looking for.
All in all the Comet shredder is better or same as the Royal shredder. They both have separate slots for CDs, comes with casters and a clear window, accepts 12 sheets per pass and under $100.
Key advantage for the Comet are:
Cut size smaller: 4 x 14 mm vs 4 x 16mm
Larger Bin Size: 3.4 Gal vs 3.25 Gal
Quieter motor: 58dB (not sure what the Royal is but it was noticeably louder)
So needless to say, the Comet shredder was a better buy. So far it's been working great for me. Will update if it doesn't last.
